Mikroplastmasas sastāva un telpiskās izplatības raksturojums Latvijas jurisdikcijā esošo jūras ūdeņu virskārtā - Austrumgotlandes baseinā un Rīgas lī…
2021
Mikro…
Synthesis of vinca alkaloids and related compounds LX. A simple transformation of apovincamine into vincamine
1992
Abstract The 15α-chloro-vincamine derivative 2 was prepared and proved to be key intermediate of a two-step transformation of apovincamine into vincamine. The structure of 2 was established via detailed NMR and X-ray investigations.
How subtle is the "terroir" effect? Chemistry-related signatures of two "climats de Bourgogne".
2014
The chemical composition of grape berries is influenced by various environmental conditions often considered to be representative of a "terroir". If grapes from a given terroir are assumed to reflect this origin in their chemical compositions, the corresponding wine should also reflect it. The aim of this work was therefore to reveal the "terroir" expression within the chemodiversity of grapes and related wines, using ultrahigh-resolution mass spectrometry. Grapes and corresponding wines, from two distinct - though very proximate - terroirs of Burgundy were analyzed over three vintages (2010, 2011 and 2012). Ultrahigh-resolution mass spectrometry and ultra-high performan…
Enzymes involved in vinyl acetate decomposition by Pseudomonas fluorescens PCM 2123 strain
2014
Esterases are widely used in food processing industry, but there is little information concerning enzymes involved in decompositions of esters contributing to pollution of environment. Vinyl acetate (an ester of vinyl alcohol and acetic acid) is a representative of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in decomposition, of which hydrolyses and oxidoreductases are mainly involved. Their activities under periodically changing conditions of environment are essential for the removal of dangerous VOCs. Esterase and alcohol/aldehyde dehydrogenase activities were determined in crude cell extract from Pseudomonas fluorescens PMC 2123 after vinyl acetate induction. All examined enzymes exhibit their hig…
Signal sequences modulate the immunogenic performance of human hepatitis C virus E2 gene
2005
Abstract Envelope protein E2 of human hepatitis C virus (HCV) is an attractive component of a prototype HCV vaccine. Delivered by DNA immunogens, E2 evokes specific immune response of Th1-type, failing to induce either considerable antibody production, or T-helper cell proliferation. We aimed at modulating the immunogenic performance of E2 gene by changing the mode of protein expression in eukaryotic cells. Plasmids were constructed encoding full-length E2 and nonstructural protein 1 (p7) fused to either 13 or 38 C-terminal amino acids (aa) of HCV E1 that contain second hydrophobic segment of E1 stop-transfer signal, or a complete E1 stop-transfer signal with duplicated second hydrophobic s…

Epigenetic Status of an Adenovirus Type 12 Transgenome upon Long-Term Cultivation in Hamster Cells
2007
ABSTRACT The epigenetic status of integrated adenovirus type 12 (Ad12) DNA in hamster cells cultivated for about 4 decades has been investigated. Cell line TR12, a fibroblastic revertant of the Ad12-transformed epitheloid hamster cell line T637 with 15 copies of integrated Ad12 DNA, carries one Ad12 DNA copy plus a 3.9-kbp fragment from a second copy. The cellular insertion site for the Ad12 integrate, identical in both cell lines, is a >5.2-kbp inverted DNA repeat. The Ad12 transgenome is packaged around nucleosomes. The cellular junction is more sensitive to micrococcal nuclease at Ad12-occupied sites than at unoccupied sites. Bisulfite sequencing reveals complete de novo methylation i…
Digitization and characterization of local reflectance of complex surfaces for visual inspection
2022
Mastering the visual perception of the surfaces of manufactured products is a central issue for industry. However, in industry, the quality of surfaces is often assessed by human inspectors. Only a few specific cases use an instrumental or photometric approach. Among the photometric approaches, one of them is experiencing significant growth: Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI). The RTI makes it possible to obtain a reduced and simplified estimate of the Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function (BRDF) and an estimate of the geometry of the surface. However, this technique has limitations in terms of data acquisition and processing. The objective is therefore to correct some of th…
Machinery Failure Approach and Spectral Analysis to Study the Reaction Time Dynamics over Consecutive Visual Stimuli: An Entropy-Based Model.
2020
[EN] The reaction times of individuals over consecutive visual stimuli have been studied using an entropy-based model and a failure machinery approach. The used tools include the fast Fourier transform and a spectral entropy analysis. The results indicate that the reaction times produced by the independently responding individuals to visual stimuli appear to be correlated. The spectral analysis and the entropy of the spectrum yield that there are features of similarity in the response times of each participant and among them. Furthermore, the analysis of the mistakes made by the participants during the reaction time experiments concluded that they follow a behavior which is consistent with …
