The paper presents the system architecture based on the semantic Web technologies and explains a simulated annealing algorithm performing the recommendations. A mobile application for the tourism domain proving the feasibility of this system is described at the end of the paper, some benchmarks are presented. In this application, the recommendations are defined as combinations of tourism products, which are linked to each other. The paper is mainly focused on the architec…

An English Poet in Scotland: John Keats's Letters To His Brother Tom
2005
This paper studies the letters John Keats sent to his brother during his walking tour of Scotland. This means of expression provided the young poet with a medium in which to share his doubts and shocks when confronted with what was still a very foreign country for an Englishman at the time. The article first shows how letter-writing plays a part in creating distance from unpleasant experiences, mostly thanks to humour. It then moves on to a study of Keats's reactions in front of the Scottish landscape and Burns's cottage and tombstone, two aspects of Scotland he had been eager to discover. The language in the letters thus gradually becomes more literary, and the last part of the article foc…
Public employees in South-Western Norway using an e-bike or a regular bike for commuting – A cross-sectional comparison on sociodemographic factors, …
2019
Large-scale analyses on the travel behavior of e-bikes are scarce, and current knowledge regarding who the e-bike owners are is inconsistent. Also, commuters represent a relevant user group with an unexploited potential. Therefore, the purpose of the present study was to examine (i) associations between type of bike (e-bike vs. regular bike) with place of residence (county), sociodemographic variables (age, sex, educational level, income and ethnicity) and habitual physical activity level, and (ii) if public employees possessing an e-bike cycle more often and longer distances to work. A cross-sectional survey was conducted in 2017 among 1977 (5.2% of eligible subjects) public employees in S…
Neighborhood resources associated with active travel in older adults: A cohort study in six European Countries
2020
Objectives: To study associations between perceived neighborhood resources and time spent by older adults in active travel. Methods: Respondents in six European countries, aged 65–85 years, reported on the perceived presence of neighborhood resources (parks, places to sit, public transportation, and facilities) with response options “a lot,” “some,” and “not at all.” Daily active travel time (total minutes of transport-related walking and cycling) was self-reported at the baseline (n = 2,695) and 12–18 months later (n = 2,189). Results: Reporting a lot of any of the separate resources (range B’s = 0.19–0.29) and some or a lot for all four resources (B = 0.22, 95% confidence interval [0.09, …
Dones intrèpides... i sàvies. Europees a Àfrica
2013
