A multi-objective optimal allocation of treated wastewater in urban areas using leader-follower game

Abstract This study proposes a new method for optimal allocation of Treated Wastewater (TW), in which different stakeholders, their social position in decision-making, and priority of objectives were attended using the leader-follower game theory. The suggested methodology was applied in a case study in the eastern part of Tehran province in Iran, where the Water and Sewage Department is considered the leader and four TW dependent districts are the followers in the game model. The leader appropriates a certain TW quantity to the system, and the followers compete for the allocated resources in the face of various physical and sociopolitical constraints. Design and implementation of a portable fNIRS embedded system

We report on the design, development and operation of a portable, low cost, battery-operated, multi-channel, functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy embedded system, hosting up to 64 optical sources and 128 Silicon PhotoMultiplier optical detectors. The system is realized as a scalable architecture, whose elementary leaf consists of a probe board provided with 16 SiPMs, 4 couples of bi-color LED, and a temperature sensor, built on a flexible stand. The hardware structure is very versatile because it is possible to handle both the switching time of the LED and the acquisition of the photodetectors, via an ARM based microcontroller.

Small-core chalcogenide microstructured fibers for the infrared.

International audience; We report several small-core chalcogenide microstructured fibers fabricated by the "Stack & Draw" technique from Ge(15)Sb(20)S(65) glass with regular profiles. Mode field diameters and losses have been measured at 1.55 microm. For one of the presented fibers, the pitch is 2.5 microm, three times smaller than that already obtained in our previous work, and the corresponding mode field diameter is now as small as 3.5 microm. This fiber, obtained using a two step "Stack & Draw" technique, is single-mode at 1.55 microm from a practical point of view. We also report the first measurement of the attenuation between 1 and 3.5 microm of a chalcogenide microstructured fiber. …

Q switching and mode locking pulse generation from an all-fiber ring laser by intermodal acousto-optic bandpass modulation

Q-switched and mode-locked (QML) pulse generation from an all-fiber ring laser based on intermodal acousto-optic bandpass modulation is reported. The modulator relies on full-acousto-optic mode re-coupling cycle induced by a standing flexural acoustic wave, with a transmission response that is controlled by amplitude modulation of the acoustic wave signal. The Q factor of the cavity is controlled by a rectangular pulse wave with variable frequency and duty cycle, whereas mode locking is achieved by amplitude modulation derived from a standing flexural acoustic wave. Different strategies in optical recognition of polychromatic images.

We treat two different problems in the recognition of polychromatic images: (1) recognition of an object with a given shape and color combination; (2) recognition of an object regardless of its color combination. To solve each problem we propose different strategies. The number of filters and the objects to which the filters are matched vary with the strategy. Phase-only filters have been used to achieve recognition of both problems. Computer results are given for different targets and scenes to show the behavior of the proposed strategies.

Programmable opticaldigital processor for rank order and morphological filtering

A flexible hybrid opto-electronic processor for rank-order and morphological filtering is presented. The system is based on the shadow-casting convolver architecture, and the threshold decomposition concept. It provides the possibility of programming the input image and structuring element at video rate. The possibilities of the processor are experimentally demonstrated.
