The centrosymmetric title compound, C22H36N2O2, was prepared in five steps from diethyl succinate. The dipropylamino groups are almost orthogonal to the central phenylenedimethanol ring [dihedral angle = 87.62 (9)°]. In the crystal, the molecules are connected by O—H...N hydrogen bonds, forming (101) layers separated by the propyl chains.
Fusarium proliferatum: induction and intracellular location of a lipoxygenase

The fungus Fusarium proliferatum was grown in a soya oil- and glucose-supplemented medium. Induction of lipoxygenase activity (13-fold) in an extract of Fusarium biomass has been observed at day four on soya oil culture medium. A band at 232 kDa was detected using a specific lipoxygenase stain combined with native PAGE. The method of fungal homogenate obtained has been checked via subcellular marker enzymes activities: succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) for mitochondrial fraction and NADH-cytochrome C reductase (NADH-cyt. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were conducted for systems in vacuo consisting of n AOT(-) anions (bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate ions) and n+/- 1 or n Na(+) ions up to n = 20. For n = 15, positively charged systems with Li(+), K(+), and Cs(+) cations were also considered. All systems were observed to form reverse micelle-like aggregates whose centre is occupied by cations and polar heads in a very compact solid-like way, while globally the aggregate has the form of an elongated and rather flat ellipsoid. Error-Free Affine, Unitary, and Probabilistic OBDDs

We introduce the affine OBDD model and show that zero-error affine OBDDs can be exponentially narrower than bounded-error unitary and probabilistic OBDDs on certain problems. Moreover, we show that Las Vegas unitary and probabilistic OBDDs can be quadratically narrower than deterministic OBDDs. We also obtain the same results for the automata versions of these models.
Validation of a mechanistic model for predicting fruit scab infection on different loquat cultivars

[EN] Scab, caused by Fusicladium eriobotryae, is the main disease affecting loquat (Eriobotrya japonica) in the Mediterranean basin. A mechanistic epidemiological model developed in Spain to predict infection of loquat fruit by conidia was assessed in the main loquat cultivated area of Italy (Sicily). A 3-year study (2014-2016) was carried out in an experimental orchard on three loquat cultivars: Algerie, Peluche and San Filipparo. For each cultivar, output of the model was compared with observed scab development on fruits.
