Ultrasound assisted reductive cleavage of sesquiterpene γ-enonelactones

1995

Abstract Ultrasound enhances the rate of reductive cleavage of the C 6 -oxygen bond of several cis - and trans - sesquiterpene γ-enonelactones. Interestingly ultrasound overrides the stereoelectronic requirements for the reductive cleavage of the most usually occurring sesquiterpene trans -lactones.

Solid-state-biased coherent detection of ultra-broadband terahertz pulses

2017

Significant progress in nonlinear and ultrafast optics has recently opened new and exciting opportunities for terahertz (THz) science and technology, which require the development of reliable THz sources, detectors, and supporting devices. In this work, we demonstrate the first solid-state technique for the coherent detection of ultra-broadband THz pulses (0.1-10 THz), relying on the electric-field-induced second-harmonic generation in a thin layer of ultraviolet fused silica. The proposed CMOS-compatible devices, which can be realized with standard microfabrication techniques, allow us to perform ultra-broadband detection with a high dynamic range by employing probe laser powers and bias v…

Emergent ultrafast phenomena in correlated oxides and heterostructures

2017

The possibility of investigating the dynamics of solids on timescales faster than the thermalization of the internal degrees of freedom has disclosed novel non-equilibrium phenomena that have no counterpart at equilibrium. Transition metal oxides (TMOs) provide an interesting playground in which the correlations among the charges in the metal $d$-orbitals give rise to a wealth of intriguing electronic and thermodynamic properties involving the spin, charge, lattice and orbital orders. Furthermore, the physical properties of TMOs can be engineered at the atomic level, thus providing the platform to investigate the transport phenomena on timescales of the order of the intrinsic decoherence ti…

ALIGNEMENT UNI ET TRIDIMENSIONNEL DE MOLÉCULES PAR IMPULSION LASER FEMTOSECONDE

2007

This thesis is devoted to the study of the alignment of linear and asymmetric top molecules generated by an intense laser pulse. In the case of short pulses with respect to molecular rotation, periodic alignment appears in field-free conditions after the extinction of the field. We study theoretically and experimentally the effects of intensity, temperature and polarization of the electric field on produced alignment. If the field is linearly polarized, the interaction leads to the alignment of the most polarizable axis of the molecule. If the field is elliptically polarized, the pulse can generate a simultaneous alignment of the three principal axes of inertia of an asymmetric top molecule…

Ultrastructural comparative analysis on the adhesive papillae of the swimming larvae of three ascidian species

2009

This paper presents a preliminary report on the papillae of the swimming larvae of three ascidian species: Ascidia malaca, Phallusia mammillata and Ciona intestinalis. The investigations, carried out at ultrastructural level and at confocal laser microscope, have evidenced, in the adhesive papillae of the three studied species, three different cell-types: axial columnar cells, collocytes, sensory cells respectively. The adhesive papillae of A. malaca and P. mammillata show central axial columnar cells with long microvilli emerging from the apical edge and extending throughout the hyaline cap. Collocytes are elongated secreting cells, lying in middle-lateral side. Sensory cells have a cilium…

Shift-Invariant Canonical Polyadic Decomposition of Complex-Valued Multi-Subject fMRI Data with a Phase Sparsity Constraint

2020

Canonical polyadic decomposition (CPD) of multi-subject complex-valued fMRI data can be used to provide spatially and temporally shared components among groups with both magnitude and phase information. However, the CPD model is not well formulated due to the large subject variability in the spatial and temporal modalities, as well as the high noise level in complex-valued fMRI data. Considering that the shift-invariant CPD can model temporal variability across subjects, we propose to further impose a phase sparsity constraint on the shared spatial maps to denoise the complex-valued components and to model the inter-subject spatial variability as well. More precisely, subject-specific time …

Musculoskeletal ultrasound in hemophilia: Results and recommendations from a global survey and consensus meeting

2021

Abstract Introduction For persons with hemophilia, optimization of joint outcomes is an important unmet need. The aim of this initiative was to determine use of ultrasound in evaluating arthropathy in persons with hemophilia, and to move toward consensus among hemophilia care providers regarding the preferred ultrasound protocols for global adaptation. Methods A global survey of hemophilia treatment centers was conducted that focused on understanding how and why ultrasound was being used and endeavored to move toward consensus definitions of both point‐of‐care musculoskeletal ultrasound (POC‐MSKUS) and full diagnostic ultrasound, terminology to describe structures being assessed by ultrasou…

The ultrasound microdubble contrast in the diagnosis and the decisional iter of the treatment of the traumatic spleen lesions

2006

To estimate our 3-year experience on the diagnosis and monitoring of the spleen traumatic lesions with the employment of ultrasound microbubbles contrast. From the 174 patients who were joints to our department in regimen of urgency for abdominal traumatic lesions, we have estimated 24 patiens including our criteria. The selected patients have been subordinate to the echographic examination with microbubbles contrast and to TC multi-detector (MDCT) with contrast with multiphasic technique. The echographic examination has evidenced 4 patients with abdominal fluid deposit without spleen parenchimal damage and 8 patients with morphofunctional alterations of the spleen. After the introduction o…
