The current article discusses how the increasing student diversity and transformation of work challenge language education at the Finnish universities of applied sciences (UAS). The article highlights some administrative and pedagogical solutions that have been developed at Karelia UAS to enable the progress of diverse students towards professional competence in foreign languages necessitated by the changes in the labour market. Työelämäyhteistyö ammattikorkeakouluopettajan osaamishaasteena

Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin ammattikorkeakouluopettajien työelämäyhteistyön osaamishaasteita. Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin yksilö- ja ryhmähaastatteluilla, joihin osallistui 16 eri alojen ammattikorkeakouluopettajaa. Aineisto analysoitiin temaattisella analyysillä. Työelämäyhteistyön osaamishaasteina tulivat esille muutos koulutuksen ja työelämän suhteissa, verkostomainen opettajuus, monipuolisten taitojen hallinta ja pedagogiikan uudistaminen. Ammattikorkeakouluopettajien työelämäyhteistyö edellyttää uusien taitojen omaksumisen lisäksi yhteisöllisyyden kehittämistä niin työelämän kuin opiskelijoidenkin kanssa.

We examine the organisational identity of a Finnish single-faculty technical university in the context of a merger process with a comprehensive multi-disciplinary university and a university of applied sciences. Learning complex analysis in different branches – Project Spotlight-Y for future teachers

International audience; At the University of Bremen in teaching complex analysis, we split the last part of the lecture into two branches according to profession: While future mathematicians deepen their understanding in a branch for them, future teachers take a branch of the lecture where they prepare a task with dynamical geometry software for pupils which is based on phenomena of complex analysis. Here, we describe the design of the course, some general aims and first results obtained from the branch for future teachers.

Latvijas Universitātes Muzeja virtuālā izstāde „Pirmie pavadoņu novērojumi Latvijas Universitātē pirms 60 gadiem” stāsta par 1957. – 1958. gadu, kad tika palaisti pirmie Zemes mākslīgie pavadoņi. Universitātes astronomi aktīvi iesaistījās to novērošanā, jo bija nepieciešams noteikt pavadoņu orbītas. Sākumā notika pavadoņu vizuālie novērojumi, kuros bija iesaistīti daudzi studenti. Tā kā tie nebija pietiekami precīzi, astronomi sāka domāt par pavadoņu fotografēšanu. Pirmos uzņēmumus ieguva 1958. gadā uz LU galvenās ēkas jumta Raiņa bulvārī 19. Inovācijas universitātē: varas un leģitimitātes aspekti

Anotācija Promocijas darba mērķis ir analizēt augšupvērstas inovācijas universitātē, tās specifiskajā strukturālās varas, profesionālās autonomijas un profesionālo prakses kopienu kontekstā. Pētījums veikts izmantojot konstrukcionisma pieeju datos pamatotās vidēja līmeņa teorijas izveidei. Teorētiskie jēdzieni aizgūti no situatīvās mācīšanās teorijas, papildinātas ar mikro-institucionālisma pieeju un varas konceptualizācijām. Veikta 30 mikro-gadījumu analīze divās Latvijas universitātēs.
