Histamin in der Interstitialfl�ssigkeit der befallenen und klinisch nicht befallenen Haut bei chronisch rezidivierender Urticaria

Bei 8 Patienten mit idiopathischer chronisch rezidivierender Urticaria wurden in der Periumbilicalregion Saugblasen gleichzeitig auf frischen urticariellen Herden und der unveranderten Haut daneben produziert und Histamin in der Blasenflussigkeit bestimmt. Hierzu wurde die von Siraganian entwickelte Methode der Autoanalyzer-Technik in modifizierter Form verwendet. Die Histaminspiegel lagen bei diesen Patienten in unveranderter Haut in derselben Grosenordnung wie bei 10 Normalpersonen, wahrend alle 8 Urticaria-Patienten hohere Histamin-Werte in den Urticae verglichen mit der nicht befallenen Haut aufwiesen; bei 4 der Patienten waren diese Unterschiede jedoch nur gering ausgepragt.

Urticaria in children and adolescents: An updated review of the pathogenesis and management

The present survey represents the latest data on diagnosis and management of childhood urticaria. It has been observed that urticaria occurs less often in children than adults, with symptoms rarely lasting for over 6 weeks. Triggers or aggravating factors can be found only in 21%-55% of cases. Finding autoantibodies in children does not impact a disease prognosis, unlike in adult patients, where the presence of autoantibodies is associated with a more prolonged run of the disease, a more severe prognosis and more intensive treatment methods. How bilastine is used to treat allergic rhinitis and urticaria in children

Management guidelines for allergic rhinitis and urticaria recommend oral second-generation antihistamines as first-line treatment. The efficacy and safety of bilastine, the newest nonsedating second-generation antihistamine, are well established in adolescents/adults with these allergic conditions. Bioproduction of an extract from Penicillium funiculosum Thom with activity against Ceratitis capitata and Tetranychus urticae

The bioproduction conditions of a crude extract from a strain of Penicillium funiculosum Thom, which shows activity against Ceratitis capitata and Tetranychus urticae, have been optimized. The efficacy degree was 95% (C. capitata) and 100% (T. urticae), according to Abbot. This is the first report on the pesticide activity of an extract from P. funiculosum against these species. The best yields were obtained when P. funiculosum was grown in Raulin-Thom medium at pH 6.5 with sucrose candy as the carbon source and ammonium sulphate and phosphate as the nitrogen source. Other favourable conditions were static cultures, at 28 degrees C, and in the dark.

Infection of Bois-Noir tuf-type-I stolbur phytoplasma inHyalesthes obsoletus(Hemiptera: Cixiidae) larvae and influence on larval size

Recent dramatic spread of the grapevine yellows disease Bois Noir (BN) in Germany is above all explained by highly increased abundances of the vector Hyalesthes obsoletus (Hemiptera: Cixiidae) associated to the plant Urtica dioica, the reservoir of the BN pathogen stolbur tuf-type-I. The vector acquires BN-phytoplasma as larvae whilst feeding on the roots of infected U. dioica. Angioedema (also known as Quincke disease) is the name given to edema lasting 1–7 days that recurs at irregular intervals. Target organs are the skin, tongue, glottis and larynx, gastrointestinal tract, and sometimes other soft organs. The clinical symptom referred to as angioedema forms part of a variety of disease entities (Box 1, Figure 1). Effects of a mixture of vegetable and essential oils and fatty acid potassium salts on Tetranychus urticae and Phytoseiulus persimilis.

Laboratory trials were carried out to evaluate the toxicity and the influence of a commercial mixture of vegetal, essential oils, and potassium salts of fatty acids (Acaridoil 13SL) on the population growth rate (r(i)--instantaneous rate of increase) of two mite species, the phytophagous Tetranychus urticae Koch and the predator Phytoseiulus persimilis Athias-Henriot. A residue of 1.3 mg/cm(2) of pesticide solution was harmless for Ph. persimilis eggs, while a moderate mortality of eggs and of larvae from treated eggs of T. urticae, was observed (53.8%). Children monosensitized to pine nuts have similar patterns of sensitization

Background Several cases of pine nut allergies and anaphylaxis have been reported in the literature, but only few pine nut allergens have been characterized. The aim of this research is to identify through immunoelectrophoretic techniques the major pine nut allergens in a group of children monosensitized to pine nuts.
