A Conversational Agent to Support Decisions in SimCity like Games

2009

Computational intelligent techniques applied to economics have played an important role in the last years. In this paper we propose a framework based on an intelligent conversational agent embedded with a decision support system, aimed at suggesting the best managing strategies for a game-based model of a virtual town. The agent tries to prospect the future evolutions of particular choices taken by the user. Interaction is conducted through a natural language interface built as an Alice-based conversational agent.

Delay-oriented data traffic migration in maritime mobile communication environments

2012

Maritime ship-to-shore communication has to satisfy different user requirements while suffering dynamic communication circumstances. Satellite networks are the primary means to communicate between ship and shore. The idea of compensating the deficiency of satellite communication with other terrestrial networks is not new. However, focus was often on how to keep users always best connected, without considering respective application needs or the potential disconnections. In this paper, we propose a delay-oriented satellite data traffic migration solution, exploiting the route repetitiveness and predictability of ships, leveraging the delay tolerance of many communication applications, with t…

Key Drivers of Mobile Commerce Adoption. An Exploratory Study of Spanish Mobile Users

2007

Despite dramatic differences between non-store shoppers were discovered, very limited research has been conducted to examine them. This paper analyses the background of M-commerce and key drivers of future Mcommerce decision among Spanish mobile users. Our objective is two-fold: (1) to determine the influence of relations with the Mobile (frequency of Mobile use, length of Mobile use and Mobile affinity), demographics, non-store shopping previous experience (mail, catalogue, Television and Internet) and attitude to M-commerce and its influence on the M-commerce decision and (2) to identify key drivers of future M-commerce intention. We examined data from 606 personal interviews given to Spa…

"Stop Making sense" a randomised text design study

2018

The current epistemological scaffolding of psychotherapy and mental health care ruthlessly privileges what is already understood and given shape, to the extent that what is currently meaningless and chaotic is strained out. The present work is an experimental attempt at contesting this way of going about the business of mental (health) care. To achieve this, we attempt to systematically destroy meaning in a text that we ourselves have produced. Through the innovation “randomised text design”, we seek to provide space for non-meaning and ignorance within the mental health discourse. What the process of randomised text design allows us to do, is bend away from ideas that hold psychotherap…

Definīcijas juridisko terminu vārdnīcās

2018

Šajā bakalaura darbā tiek pētītas definīcijas no juridisko terminu vārdnīcām; it īpaši to veidi un atšķirības.

Aperiodic Diffract: Study of diffraction gratings

2014

In this work we introduce a virtual laboratory, APERIODIC DIFFRACT, developed in Matlab GUI (Graphical User Interface) as an informatics tool for teaching the diffractive properties of aperiodic gratings. This GUI allows the student to generate aperiodic sequences by iterating and lets to study the spectra for different iterating orders.

Diels-alder reactions of methyl- and π-acceptor-substituted 2-vinylindoles with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate and tetracyanoethylene: Novel functio…

1991

The Diels-Alder reactions of the 2-vinylindoles 1a-1d, which are now readily accessible, with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate and tetracyanoethylene give rise to the novel 1,2-dihydro- and 1,2,3,4-tetrahydrocarbazoles 2, 4, and 5 as well as the fully aromatized carbazoles 3. With regard to the product spectrum, the mechanistic rationale comprises a Diels-Alder step, formal 1,3-hydrogen shift, ene reaction, and dehydrogenation. Conformational aspects of the 1,2-dihydrocarbazoles 2b and 2c are also discussed.

Patient documentation for the ultrasound laboratory

1991

The development of a PC based system for the storage of patient data in the echocardiography laboratory is described. Special design objectives were low cost and user friendliness, including an integrated special query language. After 3 years of use, the system stores 80000 diagnoses from 12000 patients without any relevant slowdown of response. Future developments concerning the communication between the database system and an echocardiographic sector scanner are discussed.

Behavioural profile of drug users attending public drug-treatment centres in Sicily: the role of social context

2007

Objective: Investigations of injecting drug users (IDUs) have suggested that the social context may influence high-risk behaviours in this population. The aim of this study was to describe knowledge, attitudes and behaviours of IDUs attending public drug-treatment centres in our area.

Study design and methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted between July 2002 and February 2004, enrolling 607 drug users attending four public drug-treatment centres in the Palermo area. Two of them were located inside the urban area, whereas the other two were in rural districts near the city. All participants answered …

GAIML: A New Language for Verbal and Graphical Interaction in Chatbots

2008

Natural and intuitive interaction between users and complex systems is a crucial research topic in human-computer interaction. A major direction is the definition and implementation of systems with natural language understanding capabilities. The interaction in natural language is often performed by means of systems called chatbots. A chatbot is a conversational agent with a proper knowledge base able to interact with users. Chatbots appearance can be very sophisticated with 3D avatars and speech processing modules. However the interaction between the system and the user is only performed through textual areas for inputs and replies. An interaction able to add to natural language also graph…
