From Face-to-Face to Online UDeL Camps: Supporting Staff at Higher Education Institutions in Developing Universal Design for eLearning (UDeL)
2021
The TINEL Project is running a series of camps for staff at higher education institution to support them in developing inclusive eLearning. The first camp was conducted face-to-face, but the coronavirus pandemic meant that the second camp was conducted online. This created a case study in inclusive eLearning in itself and allowed us to experience and reflect on the challenges and opportunities of inclusive online teaching and learning. This paper presents the structure and content of the two camps, our reflections on moving from a face-to-face to an online situation and our elaboration how the UDL principles apply to eLearning to create Universal Design for eLearning (UDeL). We found that b…
Large eddy simulations on the effect of the irregular roughness shape on turbulent channel flows
2019
Abstract Large Eddy Simulations (LES) are carried out to investigate on the mean flow in turbulent channel flows over irregular rough surfaces. Here the attention is focused to selectively investigate on the effect induced by crests or cavities of the roughness. The irregular shape is generated through the super-imposition of sinusoidal functions having random amplitude and four different wave-lengths. The irregular roughness profile is reproduced along the spanwise direction in order to obtain a 2D rough shape. The analysis of the mean velocity profiles shows that roughness crests induce higher effect in the outer-region whereas roughness cavities cause the highest effects in the inner-reg…
Les trois âges du paternalisme. Cantines et alimentation ouvrière au Creusot (1860-1960)
2014
2004
This paper deals about the characteristics of Valencian Parlamentary system from its origins, in the XIIIth century, to the abolishment of the <i>Foral</i> regulation. The author studies the initial outline and the process followed in order to make amends for the misuses committed by the Royal Administration against the liberties guaranteed in the Valencian Legal Code (<i>Fuero</i>).<br><br>El artículo versa sobre las características del sistema parlamentario pactista valenciano, desde su origen en el siglo XIII, hasta su abolición. Les " mausolées " de Salone et de Split
2012
Although abbot Martin is supposed to have collected and brought it all to Rome, as pope John IV had asked him to, the relics of salonitan martyrs are venerated since the Early Middle Ages in Split cathedral, settled in the octagon of Diocletian’s Palace, in the ager of Salona, former capital of Roman Dalmatia. Both main martyrs of the ancient city, first bishop Domnio and Anastasius fullonicus, are the medieval patrons of the cathedral beside Virgin Mary. Anastasius had previously been buried in a private mausoleum on the necropolis of Marusinac - mausoleum which gave birth to a pilgrimage ecclesial complex including a basilica gemina. Having first looked for graves ad sanctos at Manastirin…
2015
During the 2014 campaign exhaustive excavations of the early medieval mausoleum and monastic tombs situated between the mausoleum and the bell tower south of the abbey church of St Peter in Osor were completed. The results of the excavation of the interior of the reduced church revealed several floor levels that are contemporary to the Romanesque basilica, as well as the foundations of the Romanesque chancel screen situated in front of the north apse, and the presence of many burials. Some of them can be identified as privileged tombs, due to their position and their contents. Several floor levels corresponding to the phases anterior to the Romanesque church were also discovered, although i…
2009
This study describes the origin and development of the sports phenomenon in the industrial cities of Le Creusot and Montceaules-Mines (Saône-et-Loire, Burgundy), from 1879 to 1939. Throughout this period, sports in Le Creusot were totally dominated by associations led and controlled by the manufacturers, whereas in Montceau-les-Mines, worker sports were the object of conflict between industrialists and labor organisations. Such a contrast signals the existence of tight connections at the local level between the history of a place and the way in which a sport develops there. At the same time, these observations suggest some conclusions about historical conditions necessary to the emergence o…
2011
Different kinds of antique material were re-used in the Limousin region during the middle ages. In this article the authors will mostly focus on the big ashlars located in the ecclesiastical rural sites. More and more of these specific kinds of spolia are now known. Around 50 sites are identified where they were used in churches or in their surroundings (mostly sarcophagi). In most examples only few pieces were used. Nonetheless, in seven cases those blocks are numerous, and in three of them parts of antique buildings - using monumental ashlars - are incorporated into churches. It is highly probable that the spoiled monuments were mausolea. At least two of them were re-used for a Christian …
Thomas Hobbes ja pelon taloustiede
2013
2014
An analysis of morphological changes during the last six decades is presented for the Rambla de Cervera, a Mediterranean ephemeral stream located in the eastern sector of the Iberian Mountain Range. The studied channel (16.5 km) has two contrasted sectors: a horst confined sector (5.5 km) and a graben sector (11 km). Channel changes were analysed through the analysis of aerial photographs, with geographical information systems (GIS) and comparison of topographic surveys made with a GPS-RTK. Between 1946 and 2006 the Rambla de Cervera, underwent channel adjustments comparable to those observed in other Mediterranean rivers. The gravel channel markedly narrowed, losing width (68.5%) and chann…
