Background and aim: Experimentally uric acid may induce cardiomyocyte growth and interstitial fibrosis of the heart. However, clinical studies exploring the relationship between serum uric acid (SUA) and left ventricular (LV) mass yielded conflicting results. Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality, and an emerging risk factor for atrial fibrillation (AF). The first national crosssectional population-based survey of cardiovascular risk factors after regaining independence was carried out to provide reliable information on the cardiovascular risk factor profile in adults. Coronary artery stenosis treatment in aging patients with inherited Factor VII deficiency: Where do we stand?

Aging with rare bleeding disorders such as factor VII (FVII) deficiency poses several challenges to treatment because of the occurrence of cerebral and cardiovascular age-related comorbidities and high bleeding risks. We report a case of long-term treatment with antiplatelet agents and contemporary prophylaxis of bleeding in a woman affected by severe FVII deficiency diagnosed with symptomatic coronary artery stenosis. Objectives To confirm the effects of short-term exposure to ozone (O 3 ) on ischaemic heart and cerebrovascular disease. Methods Daily levels of urban O 3 pollution, the incidence of first-ever, recurrent, fatal and non-fatal ischaemic cerebrovascular events (ICVE) and myocardial infarction (MI) were correlated using a case-crossover design. The authors analysed 1574 ICVE and 913 MI that occurred in Dijon, France (150 000 inhabitants) from 2001 to 2007. Few data are accessible about the nitric oxide (NO) stable end-products (nitrite/NO2 − and nitrate/NO3 − :N O x) in acute coronary syndromes. An increase in inducible NO synthase (iNOS) was found during experimental myocardial infarction [13] and this increase persisted for 2 weeks.
