Tarantula Hemocyanin Shows Phenoloxidase Activity

An enzyme generally catalyzes one well defined reaction with high specificity and efficiency. We report here in contrast that the copper protein hemocyanin of the tarantula Eurypelma californicum exhibits two different functions. These occur at the same active site. While hemocyanin usually is an oxygen carrier, its function can be transformed totally to monophenoloxidase and o-diphenoloxidase activity after limited proteolysis with trypsin or chymotrypsin. N-acetyldopamine (NADA) is more effectively oxidized than L-dopa or dopamine. Background Characteristic symptoms of Dopamine-responsive dystonia (DRD) are increased muscle tone and Parkinsonian features. Children with DRD are often misdiagnosed. The disorder responds well to treatment with Levodopa. Aim To reflect on a case of DRD. Method Case report of a 13 years old girl misdiagnosed with tetany. Results The girl was hospitalized for opisthotonus, positive Trousseau and Chvostek signs, diagnosed as tetany. The laboratory analysis have shown: normal serum of calcium (2.28 mmol/l), normal serum of magnesium (0.80 mmol/l), normal serum of phosphor (1.26 mmol/l), normal alkaline phosphatase (261 u/l) and normal PTH (27.9 pg/ml). Research on the diet composition of the barn owl Tyto alba was conducted near the town of Przecza in the area of Lewin Brzeski (Opolskie Voivodeship. On the basis of 1158 bone elements, 14 species of small mammals were found, including 4 insectivorous species (Sorex araneus, Sorex minutus, Neomys fodiens, Cocidura suaveolens), 5 vole species (Microtus arvalis, Microtus agrestis, Arvicola terrestris, Myodes glareolus, Microtus oeconomus) and 5 mouse species (Mus musculus, Apodemus agrarius, Apodemus flavicolis, Apodemus sylvaticus, Micromys minutus). W opracowaniu przedstawiono znaczenie i wpływ kreatywności oraz innowacyjności na rozwój obszarów wiejskich. Zdefiniowano pojęcie kreatywności i sektorów kreatywnych, wskazano działania w zakresie rozwoju kreatywności i aktywizacji mieszkańców obszarów wiejskich. Określono wpływ działalności pozarolniczej na jakość życia ludności wiejskiej oraz przedstawiono przykłady aktywizacji i różnych działań kreatywnych będących formą przedsięwzięć innowacyjnych na obszarach wiejskich województwa opolskiego.

Praksē vērojams, ka daudzu vidusskolēnu pareizrakstības prasmes ir nepilnīgas, kas liecina, ka pamatskolā nav attīstītas nepieciešamās iemaņas. Spilgti izpaužas tas, ka vidusskolēniem trūkst prasmes analizēt un izkopt rakstveida runu. Lingvodidaktikā relatīvi maz pētītas vidusskolēnu pareizrakstības prasmju pilnveidošanas iespējas, tādēļ maģistra darba mērķis ir izpētīt vidusskolēnu interpunkcijas un ortogrāfijas prasmi un piedāvāt paņēmienus tās pilnveidošanai. Diplomdarba temats ir aktuāls, jo skolēniem jau sākumizglītībā rodas nepieciešamība lietot pieturzīmes dažādu sintaktisko vienību nošķiršanai, bet mācību saturā šim valodas apguves aspektam pagaidām netiek pievērsta pienācīga uzmanība. Tādēļ darba mērķis ir izstrādāt un aprobēt mācību satura lingvodidaktisko apdari 5. klases skolēnu interpunkcijas prasmes attīstīšanai latviešu valodas stundās.
