Bortvalg av videregående skole og mestringstro : En kvalitativ studie av unge jenter som har valgt å slutte på videregående skole
2017
Masteroppgave psykisk helsearbeid ME504 - Universitetet i Agder 2017 The projects background is a request from the University of Agder to look for reasons why some girls may choose to drop out of high school focusing on their relationship with their contact or main teacher. The purpose of this study is to explore what role self-efficacy has in the effort to increase the percentage of children an adolescents completing high school. It has been important to search for previous experiences to find out why their self-efficacy is at such a low level and if it can have affected their decision to drop out of high school. The issue is: ”which experiences can influence the decision of dropping out o…
Radiographic Outcomes of Hallux Valgus Deformity Correction With Chevron and Scarf Osteotomies
2023
There is no gold standard in the treatment of hallux valgus deformity. The purpose of our study was to compare various aspects of radiographic assessment following scarf and chevron osteotomies and try to determine which technique helps achieve a more pronounced intermetatarsal angle (IMA) and hallux valgus angle (HVA) correction and produces lower rates of complications, including adjacent-joint arthritis. This study included patients who underwent hallux valgus correction with the scarf (n = 32) or chevron (n = 181) method with a follow-up period of over 3 years. We evaluated the following parameters: HVA, IMA, duration of hospital stay, complications, development of adjacent-joint arthri…
A novel global postural alteration? Qualitative assessment of hallux valgus and swallowing disorder in human posture: A preliminary investigation on …
2020
Hallux Valgus (HV) and Swallowing Disorder (SD) are two multifactorial postural and biomechanical alterations. It is very important to look for the incidence of these two conditions in order to promote psycho-physical and postural well-being. Our study aimed to clinically assess the presence of HV and SD in a large group with different ages spans. Fours skilled professionals performed the assessment following clinical criteria. A total of 61 volunteers subjects (163.5 ± 14.1 cm; 59.7 ± 15.7 kg; 22.9 ± 13.2 yrs.) were selected for the study. The 51% of the sample showed the HV alteration, 30% and 73% respectively for male and female. Regarding ages cluster, the HV was present in 44% under 20…
Scarf and Akin osteotomies for moderate and severe hallux valgus
2008
Abstract Background The scarf and the combined scarf-Akin procedures are reliable therapeutic tools and can obtain effective correction of symptomatic moderate to severe hallux valgus deformities. Methods The data from 30 patients (37 feet) with moderate to severe hallux valgus deformity who had scarf osteotomies have been retrospectively reviewed. 32 Akin and 77 Weil osteotomies were also carried out at the same stage. The average follow-up was 22 months. Standardized methods of radiographic and clinical data collection were obtained before and after surgery. Patient satisfaction was assessed at follow-up. Results Radiological assessment revealed a significant improvement ( p p Conclusions…
Association between frontal plane knee control and lower extremity injuries : a prospective study on young team sport athletes
2017
Background/aimPoor frontal plane knee control can manifest as increased dynamic knee valgus during athletic tasks. The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between frontal plane knee control and the risk of acute lower extremity injuries. In addition, we wanted to study if the single-leg squat (SLS) test can be used as a screening tool to identify athletes with an increased injury risk.MethodsA total of 306 basketball and floorball players participated in the baseline SLS test and a 12-month injury registration follow-up. Acute lower extremity time-loss injuries were registered. Frontal plane knee projection angles (FPKPA) during the SLS were calculated using a two-dimen…
Biomechanical effectiveness of a distraction-rotation knee brace in medial knee osteoarthritis: preliminary results.
2013
Abstract Background Non-pharmacological therapies are recommended for the care of knee osteoarthritis patients. Unloader knee braces provide an interesting functional approach, which aims to modulate mechanical stress on the symptomatic joint compartment. We aimed to confirm the biomechanical effects and evaluate functional benefits of a new knee brace that combines a valgus effect with knee and tibial external rotation during gait in medial osteoarthritis patients. Methods Twenty patients with unilateral symptomatic medial knee osteoarthritis were included and they performed two test sessions of 3D gait analysis with and without the brace at the initial evaluation (W0) and after 5weeks (W5…
Radial Head Fractures
2014
Radial head fractures are the most common elbow fractures, accounting for 20–30 %. Typically, the fractures evolve from a fall on the outstretched hand with the elbow extended and the forearm in pronation. The role of the radial head as an important stabilizer of the elbow joint has been recognized in the last decade. Sixty percent of the axial load transmitted through the elbow is conducted through the radial head. Furthermore, the radial head is an important stabilizer against valgus stresses. While the medial collateral ligament (MCL) is the primary stabilizer against valgus stress, the role of the radial head emerges when the MCL is torn. These findings have led to a change in treatment…
Orejas valgas: estabilización mediante colgajo dermo-graso-pericóndrico retroauricular
2013
