Spain has been hit hard by COVID-19, with more than 300 000 cases, 28 498 confirmed deaths,1 and around 44 000 excess deaths, as of Aug 4, 2020.2 More than 50 000 health workers have been infected, and nearly 20 000 deaths were in nursing homes.3 With a population of 47 million, these data place Spain among the worst affected countries. Spain is also reported to have one of the best performing health systems in the world4 and ranks 15th in the Global Health Security index.5 So how is it possible that Spain now finds itself in this position?

In this work, double-structured polymeric scaffolds were produced, and a double flow bioreactor was designed and set up in order to create a novel system to carry out advanced in vitro drug delivery tests. The scaffolds, consisting of a cylindrical porous matrix, are able to host cells, thus mimicking a three-dimensional tumor mass: moreover, a âpseudo-vascularâ structure was embedded into the matrix, with the aim of allowing a flow circulation. The terrestrial biosphere is currently slowing down global warming by absorbing about 30% of human emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2). The largest flux of the terrestrial carbon uptake is gross primary production (GPP) defined as the production of carbohydrates by photosynthesis. Elevated atmospheric CO2 concentration is expected to increase GPP (“CO2 fertilization effect”). However, Earth system models (ESMs) exhibit a large range in simulated GPP projections. In view of the doubts that the future of the public pension is raising and the concentration of savings in Spanish property, the reverse mortgage is once again being put on the table as a viable alternative to complement a public pension with little revaluation, in view of the increase in life expectancy and expenses after retirement.
