Carbon Dots Dispersed on Graphene/SiO2/Si: A Morphological Study

Low-dimensional carbon materials occupy a relevant role in the field of nanotechnology. Herein, the authors report a study conducted by atomic force microscopy and Raman spectroscopy on the deposition of carbon dots onto graphene surfaces. The study aims at understanding if and how the morphology and the microstructure of chemical vapor deposited graphene on Si/SiO2 may change due to the interaction with the carbon dots. Potential alteration in the graphene's electrical properties might be detrimental for optoelectronic applications. ZnO/CdTe/CuSCN, a promising heterostructure to act as inorganic eta-solar cell

Abstract The ZnO/CdTe/CuSCN heterostructure was analyzed as a candidate to act as an inorganic eta -solar cell. A ZnO film consisting of single crystal nanocolumns was electrodeposited on a transparent conducting substrate which acts as n-type material. As absorber material we used CdTe, which was deposited on the ZnO columnar film by Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition. In order to complete the eta -solar cell we deposited a CuSCN layer by chemical solution deposition. A conformal and uniform CdTe coverage of the ZnO columns was achieved, producing a very efficient light trapping effect. Synchrotron radiation multiple diffraction study of Al0.304Ga0.172In0.524As MOVPE grown onto InP(001)

Synchrotron radiation multiple diffraction in Renninger scanning (RS) geometry is used to characterise an Al0.304Ga0.172In0.524 As hetero-epitaxial layer MOVPE grown onto InP(001). (006) RS data for bulk, InP substrate and the quaternary layer were obtained using a new experimental set-up on station 7.6 at the Daresbury synchrotron radiation source. Examination of the multiple diffraction peak profiles reveal the epitaxial layers to have a higher mosaic spread than the underlying substrate materials. Analysis of the charge state distribution produced in a 78Kr + 98Mo fusion evaporation reaction utilizing the MARA separator

Experimental results on the charge state distribution of the fusion evaporation reaction 78Kr + 98Mo are presented. The data has been taken from the 1st commissioning run of MARA (Mass Analysing Recoil Apparatus). Data from the charge states of q = 29 − 33 were collected. Here, q represents the elementary charge describing the number of electrons removed from a neutral atom. Results show an expected gaussian distribution around the most probable charge, ̄q. A most probable charge state of ̄q = (27.99 ± 0.20) was obtained after fitting the data. The value of ̄q was lower than initially anticipated, which was mainly a result of a less than desired beam energy delivered on the day of testing.

Preparation and characterisation of Na 2 S and ZnSO 4 nanoparticles in water/sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulphosuccinate/ n -heptane microemulsions

The preparation procedure for nanoparticles of the water-soluble salts Na2S and ZnSO4, two commonly used reagents to synthesise ZnS nanoparticles, by evaporation of volatile components of salt-containing water-in-oil microemulsions is described. In suitable conditions, the evaporation leads to the formation of dry salt–surfactant composites and to the formation of Na2S or ZnSO4 nanoparticles. It was found that the salt–surfactant composites can be totally redissolved in a dry apolar organic solvent allowing the formation of virtually water-free solutions containing a considerable amount of the water-soluble salts.
