12q21 Interstitial Deletions: Seven New Syndromic Cases Detected by Array-CGH and Review of the Literature.

Interstitial deletions of the long arm of chromosome 12 are rare, with a dozen patients carrying a deletion in 12q21 being reported. Recently a critical region (CR) has been delimited and could be responsible for the more commonly described clinical features, such as developmental delay/intellectual disability, congenital genitourinary and brain malformations. Other, less frequent, clinical signs do not seem to be correlated to the proposed CR. Nel 1535 Martin Lutero scrive il corale natalizio "Vom Himmel hoch da komm' ich her", basandosi sulla melodia di un'antico canto popolare tedesco. Questo brano ricorre varie volte nell'opera compositiva di J.S. Bach e costituisce il presupposto delle "Canonische veraenderungen" per organo BWV 796 e 796a (1748 ca.). Nel 1955 Igor Stravinsky realizza una versione per coro e orchestra dell'opera bachiana che costituisce un esempio emblematico di "musica al quadrato" e di ripensamento creativo di un'opera del passato.

Drinking water disinfection by-products, genetic polymorphisms, and birth outcomes in a european mother-child cohort study

Background: We examined the association between exposure during pregnancy to trihalomethanes, the most common water disinfection by-products, and birth outcomes in a European cohort study (Health Impacts of Long-Term Exposure to Disinfection By-Products in Drinking Water). We took into account exposure through different water uses, measures of water toxicity, and genetic susceptibility. Haploinsufficiency of the Primary Familial Brain Calcification Gene SLC20A2 Mediated by Disruption of a Regulatory Element

OBJECTIVE Primary familial brain calcification (PFBC) is a rare cerebral microvascular calcifying disorder with diverse neuropsychiatric expression. Five genes were reported as PFBC causative when carrying pathogenic variants. Haploinsufficiency of SLC20A2, which encodes an inorganic phosphate importer, is a major cause of autosomal-dominant PFBC. However, PFBC remains genetically unexplained in a proportion of patients, suggesting the existence of additional genes or cryptic mutations. Takotsubo syndrome (TTS), recognized as stress’s cardiomyopathy, or as left ventricular apical balloon syndrome in recent years, is a rare pathology, described for the first time by Japanese researchers in 1990. The majority of children born with these treatments are healthy, but some concerns remain on the safety of these medical procedures.
