Convergence of voices: assimilation in linguistic therapy of evaluation.

2009

This paper shows the convergence of voices in psychotherapy in the context of the assimilation model. Convergence is the link between patients' voices within the community of voices. The main aim of the paper was to explore (a) how convergence (and divergence) is shown during sessions and the usefulness of convergence for the process of assimilation; (b) if a well-structured patient is able to track the sociohistorical antecedents of his/her main voices; and (c) if, at the end of the therapy, the self becomes richer and with more resources. For this aim to be realized, a case study of a patient, Maria, treated with linguistic therapy of evaluation for 14 sessions, was analysed by using the …

La agresividad auto y heteroevaluada: variables implicadas [Self and heteroinform aggression: involved variables]

2006

The infantile and juvenile aggressiveness is considered to be a complex phenomenon, with multiple factors that contribute to different aggressive manifestations. For all this, this phenomenon has been an object of many investigations, which have the aim to understand the basic mechanisms that cause and regulate these behaviors (Eron y Huesmann, 1984; Caprara y Pastorelli, 1989, 1993, 1996; Bandura, Barbaranelli, Caprara, Pastorelli, y Regalia 2001; Caprara, Barbaranelli, Pastorelli, Bandura, y Zimbardo, 2001). This work tries to analyze the aggressive behavior and the implied processes. We have evaluated the emotional instability (IE, Caprara & Pastorelli, 1993; Del Barrio, Moreno & Lopez, …

Zīmola ietekme uz pircēju rīcību patēriņa tirgū.

2020

Preliminary study of coach verbal behaviour according to game actions

2012

Guzman JF, Calpe-Gomez V. Preliminary study of coach verbal behaviour according to game actions. J. Hum. Sport Exerc. Vol. 7, No. 2, pp. 376-382, 2012. The aim of this study was to analyse the interaction between game actions in high-level handball and verbal behaviour performed by the coach. For this purpose, a match of the 1 st National Division of male Spanish handball was analysed. The type of behaviour and the content of the message reported by the coach were recorded using a modified version of Coaching Behaviour Assessment System (CBAS) and Coach Analysis and Intervention System (CAIS). About game actions, they were grouped into positive and negative. Statistically significant differ…

Machine-readable entailments with the Italian 'prendere' construction expressing hitting and insulting events

2022

The Italian language features a little debated transitive construction with prendere ‘to take/to catch’ in which a prepositional phrase (PP) with an adverbial value occurs mandatorily (e.g. Lui prese a pugni Leo ‘He punched Leo’). Semantically, this construction often implies the use of physical force or verbal offence. In the hitting or insulting event, the notional subject generally is a [+ Human] Agent, whilst the notional direct object generally is a [+ Animate] Affectee ([1]: 4). It can be contended that prendere, which carries no literal meaning, is zero-valent and that the predicate assigning semantic roles is the PP. A computational tool will be illustrated, …

Modulating fluency with Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation over right or left inferior frontal gyrus

2017

Objective In these last years, a growing body of evidence has already indicated that non-invasive brain stimulation techniques, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), can modulate the language system in aphasic populations. The aim of this presentation is to investigate for the first time the effects of inhibitory rTMS over the left and right inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) on phonemic fluency tasks. Participants Sixty-six right-handed healthy participants participated in the study. Forty-four had administered offline low-frequency (1 Hz) rTMS for 10 minutes and verbal fluency outcome measures were recorded. Twenty-two participants w…

Natural Language Inference in Ordinary and Support Verb Constructions

2020

The family of clause types known as 'support (or 'light') verb construction' (SVC) manifests a peculiar syntax-semantics interface if compared with ordinary verb constructions (OVC). If, in e.g. She laughed, the verb licenses an argument and assigns it a semantic role, syntacticians of every stripe nowadays agree that it is the noun laugh, in She gave a laugh, which fulfils the same function. The differences between the two types have been extensively discussed in the linguistics literature (systematic research started in the 1970s), less so in Computational Linguistics. This paper has two objectives. First, it will propose an innovative type of semantic role, which is termed Cognate Semant…

Teachers' embodied allocations in instructional interaction

2012

This paper describes how teachers employ gaze, head nods and pointing gestures in allocating response turns to students in whole-class instructional interaction. Specifically, it focuses on examining teachers’ embodied allocations – that is, turn-allocations produced (mostly) by embodied means – and the sequential positions in which they are performed within the tripartite instructional sequence of IRE. While prior studies have noted their use in classroom interaction, the way in which they are drawn on by teachers has not been examined in detail. By using conversation analysis in conjunction with the study of embodied interaction, this article aims to show how these ephemeral embodied reso…
