Transversal training within secondary teachers’ training in the face of current reforms in France

09039; This article aims to define what 'transversal training' represents in secondary teachers' training in France. It attempts at the same time to assess critically the place it holds in the framework of the two years of training that university institutes for teacher training provide for young teachers. Noting the small place occupied by transversal training, this article questions its possible fate within the framework of current reforms.

By means of linear algebra a base-free definition of a Veronese variety V(n,r) is given and also an illuminating description of its osculating primes from which can be deduced in a general form and without difficulty the phenomena of degeneracy in case of small characteristics. (Instance best known: For characteristic 2 all tangents of a conic are confluent.) The last section investigates special problems for the V(1,r) in characteristic p: So the osculating primes of a V(1,p) intersect its node in a V(1,p-2). Furthermore it becomes clearer why for 2<r<¦K¦−1 no elation can fix a V(1,r) (in case of a perfect field).

A RAPID METHOD FOR CALCULATING THE TRANSVERSAL STRAIN IN THE MOIRE TECHNIQUE ALONG SECTIONS OF SYMMETRY

An approximate rapid method is described for calculating in the moire technique the transversal strain directly from the longitudinal strain distribution across sections of symmetry. The method is based on evaluation of the load transmitted through the section and is corroborated by two examples.

In this chapter, (X λ ) will be a smooth or analytic (in Section 3) family of vector fields on a phase space S, with parameter λ ∈ P, as in Chapter 1. Periodic orbits and elliptic singular points which are limits of sequences of limit cycles are called regular limit periodic sets. The reason for this terminology is that for such a limit periodic set Γ one can define local return maps on transversal segments, which are as smooth as the family itself. The limit cycles near Γ will be given by a smooth equation and the theory of bifurcations of limit cycles from Γ will reduce to the theory of unfoldings of differentiable functions. [EN] Research in business organization in general and talent management (in university or professional students) uses in many cases self-administered questionnaires as a source of data to assess people's competencies. In clinical psychology, it has been shown that self-evaluations of behaviors may present a bias of social desirability. However, even in this field of research it is not usual to measure its effect when taking data. Our work proposes a protocol to find a set of scales of social desirability (SD) with less than 20 items that are valid and reliable. We also intend to identify if SD scales are associated with the self-assessments of some transversal competences.

Variation between Self- and Mutual Assessment in Animal Contests

Limited resources lead animals into conflicts of interest, which are resolved when an individual withdraws from a direct contest. Current theory suggests that the decision to withdraw can be based on a threshold derived from an individual’s own state (self-assessment) or on a comparison between their own state and their opponent’s (mutual assessment). The observed variation between these assessment strategies in nature does not conform to theory. Split extensions, semidirect product and holomorph of categorical groups

Working in the context of categorical groups, we show that the semidirect product provides a biequivalence between actions and points. From this biequivalence, we deduce a two-dimensional classification of split extensions of categorical groups, as well as the universal property of the holomorph of a categorical group. We also discuss the link between the holomorph and inner autoequivalences.

Varieties of Algebras with Superinvolution of Almost Polynomial Growth

Let A be an associative algebra with superinvolution ∗ over a field of characteristic zero and let $c_{n}^{\ast }(A)$ be its sequence of corresponding ∗-codimensions. In case A is finite dimensional, we prove that such sequence is polynomially bounded if and only if the variety generated by A does not contain three explicitly described algebras with superinvolution. As a consequence we find out that no intermediate growth of the ∗-codimensions between polynomial and exponential is allowed.

A continuing debate in elementary geometry: the Simson–Wallace line and its many generalisations

For some years now the importance has been appraised of demonstrating elementary geometry to pupils and future teachers through interactive geometry software. This fits within a view of the teaching of geometry that stresses a hands-on approach, thanks to which it is possible to teach the subject via historical syllabi, touching on ideas from different origins and of a transversal nature.
