The Madonie district, one of the 72 pilot areas of the National Strategy for Inner Areas in Italy in the center of Sicily, is composed by 21 municipalities that really have a great potential, due to their historical background and natural landscape, but it needs new strategies to emerge. This paper examines anti-liberal reactionary discourse in the first few years of the Spanish (liberal) Revolution. It is centred on the controversy that liberal congressman Joaquín Lorenzo Villanueva and publicist and Capuchin Friar Rafael de Vélez courted between 1820 and 1825. The sources used refer directly to the writings of both protagonists taking Friar Vélez’s «Apología del Trono» as their starting point. Methodologically, the analysis’ perspective adopts part of the theoretical consideration that critique of Liberalism, in its diverse manifestations, was an inherent part of the revolutionary process rather than a marginal element of it. In my dissertation I have traced novel routes to village research by examining the transformation of the villages through the concepts of temporality and materiality. My research questions are: What kind of temporal trajectories have formed the villages? What kind of things, events, processes or connections have in the course of time been part of the village? I examine the transformations having taken place along various trajectories and focus on how the past and the future are related in the present in certain moments. The aim of the article is to compare the preliminary results of the research on the data gathered in the VILLA project with the reflections of the teacher conducting all the sessions (ten courses in Polish for beginners).
