A VR-based serious game to regulate joy in adolescents: A comparison of different devices

Adolescence is a crucial period to learn Emotional Regulation (ER) strategies to prevent future psychological problems. This work is aimed to test the efficacy of GameTeen System (GT-System), a serious game that teaches ER strategies to regulate joy (VAS scale) and perceived arousal (FAS scale) in a non-clinical sample of adolescents. We conducted a between-participants experiment in which participants (N = 63) played a joy induction game, and then an ER game using one of three types of devices (computer, smartphone, and RGB-D camera). Practical proposal for the development of the rhythm with tennis players in training

The importance of training coordination for the development of young players is a well-established area of research. However, rhythm, despite having a crucial importance in tennis, is one of the coordinative capacities less studied and therefore, it is difficult for coaches to obtain information that could allow them to design coaching sessions that focus on these capacities. This article highlights the importance of rhythm in tennis, and also presents series of general exercises (without the use of a specific tennis equipment), special exercises (with the use of specific tennis equipment) and specific exercises (in game situations) aimed at the training of these coordinative capacities.

Cognitive network hyperactivation and motor cortex decline correlate with ALS prognosis.

We aimed to quantitatively characterize progressive brain network disruption in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) during cognition using the mismatch negativity (MMN), an electrophysiological index of attention switching. We measured the MMN using 128-channel EEG longitudinally (2-5 timepoints) in 60 ALS patients and cross-sectionally in 62 healthy controls. Using dipole fitting and linearly constrained minimum variance beamforming we investigated cortical source activity changes over time. Uncontrollable, compared with controllable, painful stimulation can lead to increased pain perception and activation in pain-processing brain regions, but it is currently unknown which brain areas mediate this effect. When pain is controllable, the lateral prefrontal cortex (PFC) seems to inhibit pain processing, although it is unclear how this is achieved.
