Synthesis, crystallographic and electrochemical study of ethynyl[2.2]paracyclophane derived cobalt metallatetrahedranes

Abstract A series of alkynyl cobalt complexes [Co2(μ-η2-HCC–PCP)(CO)6−nLn] [n = 0 (2); n = 2, L2 = dppa (3), dppm (4), dcpm (6), 2 P(OPh)3 (7)] and [Co2(CO)4L2]2(μ-η2:μ-η2-HCC–PCP–CCH)] (L2 = dppm (8), dcpm (9); (PCP = [2.2]paracyclophane) has been prepared and characterized. The molecular structures of 3 and 4, as well as that of [Co2(CO)4(μ-CO)2(μ2-dcpm)] (5), have been determined by X-ray diffraction. Platinum in indoor settled dust matter (homes and cars)

Abstract This paper presents a method for Pt analysis in indoor (homes and cars) settled dust, used as passive samplers, and the results relative to samples collected in the Sicilian area are used to evaluate the magnitude and distribution of concentrations inside common environments and the possible origins of the considered contaminant. The concentrations of platinum in settled indoor dust were measured by differential pulsed voltammetry (DPV). Concentrations of Pt in homes are in the range from 30 to 1460 μg kg − 1 d.w. while, in the vehicles from 30 to 1750 μg kg − 1 d.w. Electrochemical monitoring of the oxidative coupling of alkynes catalyzed by triphenylphosphine gold complexes

Electrochemical monitoring of the oxidative coupling of alkynes in the homogeneous phase through catalytic cycles involving triphenylphosphine gold complexes and selectfluor as oxidant reveals that at least two gold species in +3 and +1 oxidation states are implicated. Electrochemically driven homocoupling of terminal alkynes using molecular oxygen as the oxidant can be performed using such catalysts. Multitarget-directed ligands (MTDLs) are considered a promising therapeutic strategy to address the multifactorial nature of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Novel MTDLs have been designed as inhibitors of human acetylcholinesterases/butyrylcholinesterases, monoamine oxidase A/B, and glycogen synthase kinase 3β and as calcium channel antagonists via the Biginelli multicomponent reaction. En el presente trabajo se han investigado las concepciones alternativas sobre pilas galvánicas y las interpretaciones de los procesos que tienen lugar en una pila voltaica simple. Han participado en él 55 estudiantes del 2º de Bachillerato español (curso previo al ingreso en la universidad) y 43 estudiantes de primer año del Grado de Química. Teachers and inclusion: an empirical survey on specialist training for support teachers

This paper illustrates the results of an empirical-experimental research conducted as part of the Specialization Course for support activities, held at the University of Palermo in the academic year 2016/17. The survey, concerning the effectiveness of training courses for teachers for the development of active learning, involved 450 teachers and had the main objective of investigating whether there was an actual increase in specific professional skills functional to school inclusion among those who attended the course. L’indagine che si situa nell’ambito della problematica relativa alla efficacia dei percorsi formativi destinati ai docenti per lo sviluppo di un apprendimento attivo ha coinvolto 450 insegnanti e ha avuto l’obiettivo di indagare se vi sia stato un effettivo incremento di specifiche competenze professionali funzionali all’inclusione scolastica tra coloro che hanno conseguito la specializzazione. A Model for Assessing the Magnitude and Distribution of Sheath Currents in Medium and High-Voltage Cable Lines

In this article, the authors discuss a simulation model to study the effect of cross-bonding of metallic sheaths, and/or nonmagnetic armors, of single-core medium- and high-voltage cables in the same circuit. In single-core cables, the resistive losses due to the induced circulating currents in cable sheaths or armors cause an increase of the cable temperature, which therefore reduces its ampacity. This is a serious issue affecting the distribution and transmission lines.
