AbstractPartial migration, whereby some individuals migrate and some do not, is relatively common and widespread among animals. Switching between migration tactics (from migratory to resident or vice versa) occurs at individual and population levels. Here, we describe for the first time the movement ecology of the largest wintering population of Egyptian Vultures (Neophron percnopterus) in south-west Europe. Multidrug resistance (MDR) mediated by ATP binding cassette subfamily B member 1 (ABCB1) is significantly hindering effective cancer chemotherapy. However, currently, no ABCB1-inhibitory drugs have been approved to treat MDR cancer clinically, mainly due to the inhibitor specificity, toxicity, and drug interactions. Here, we reported that three polyoxypregnanes (POPs) as the most abundant constituents of Marsdenia tenacissima (M. tenacissima) were novel ABCB1-modulatory pro-drugs, which underwent intestinal microbiota-mediated biotransformation in vivo to generate active metabolites. Their particular ecology and sociality makes them vulnerable to various risks, including environmental changes, poisoning and bioaccumulation of toxic substances from agricultural products, pesticides, and veterinary drugs used in cattle livestock. Congenital infiltrating lipomatosis of the face, first described by Beck in 1836, is a rare condition of unknown etiology, characterized by widespread infiltration of mature fat cells in the context of tissues softening of the face, with associated consequent bone deformities. Guardare una caricatura significa innanzitutto riconoscere un determinato soggetto ed essere consapevoli che alcune delle sue caratteristiche sono state significativamente esagerate. In questa relazione mi propongo di esplorare la fenomenologia di questa modalità raffigurativa cercando di fare chiarezza intorno (i) al soggetto della caricatura e (ii) al modo in cui l’esagerazione pittorica viene impiegata per raffigurare. Questi due problemi investono grossomodo il cosa e il come di quest’arte. Una loro disamina consentirà inoltre (iii) di tracciare, nei limiti del possibile, una linea di confine rispetto a un genere figurativo affine: il grottesco.
