Hypothetical bias in equity crowdfunding

International audience; Young, entrepreneurial firms are particularly dependent on external investors to sustain their development. Are non-binding equity investment commitments informative? Our large sample evidence in the context of equity crowdfunding shows that only 18% of non-binding commitments made by investors in entrepreneurial firms are actually invested. The evidence is consistent with hypothetical bias. Hypothetical bias is significantly less pronounced among women, and among investors with greater social capital, proxied by education and wealth. Topological considerations in composing teams of learning machines

Classes of total recursive functions may be identifiable by a team of strategies, but not by a single strategy, in accordance with a certain identification type (EX, FIN, etc.). Qualitative aspects in composing teams are considered. For each W ∉ EX all recursive strategies can be split into several families so that any team identifying W contains strategies from all the families. For W ∉ FIN the possibility of such splitting depends upon W. The relation between these phenomena and “voting” properties for types EX, FIN, etc. is revealed.

This paper describes the participation of a combined approach in GeoCLEF-2006. We have participated in Monolingual English Task and we present joint work of the three groups or teams belonging to the project R2D2 with a new system, combining the three individual systems of these teams. We consider that research in the area of GIR is still in its very early stages, therefore, although a voting system could improve the individual results of each system, we have to further investigate different ways to achieve a better combination of these systems.

In unserem Beitrag analysieren wir, wie die Burgerinnen und Burger den Regierungswechsel und die Ubernahme der Regierungsgeschafte durch die neue grun-rote Regierung wahrgenommen, wie sich die Regierungs- und Parteienzufriedenheit (ausgedruckt durch die hypothetische Wahlentscheidung) im Zeitverlauf entwickelt haben und was die Determinanten der Zufriedenheit sind. Unsere Analysen basieren dabei auf insgesamt sechs reprasentativen telefonischen Befragungen im Zeitraum von November 2011 bis Oktober 2015.
