44 pages; International audience; Stylophorans (cornutes, mitrates) represent one of the most diverse classes of Cambro-Ordovician echinoderms. They were freeliving, benthic, non-radiate forms, closely related to asterozoans and crinoids. Taphonomic, sedimentological, and palaeosynecological data provide useful information on key aspects of stylophoran palaeoecology. Such a combined approach suggests that the rarity of stylophorans in proximal environments (above storm-wave base) was probably original and does not exclusively result from the possession of a loosely articulated polyplated calcitic test. Stan oraz jakość lądowych i rzecznych środków transportu był oceniany przez cudzoziemców bardzo nisko, podobnie jak jakość usług oferowanych w przydrożnych karczmach w Polsce i na Litwie. L’etichetta “Letterature franco-caraibica” utilizzata, per convenzione, dalla critica per indicare unitariamente la produzione letteraria in lingua francese della regione centrale del Continente americano è assai impropria. La regione dei Caraibi abbraccia, infatti, sia alcune delle isole dell’arcipelago delle Piccole Antille (Martinica, Guadalupa), sia l’isola di Haïti, che fa parte delle Grandi Antille, che la Guiana incastonata sulla costa orientale dell’America meridionale. Pur nella diversità dei movimenti ideologici e degli avvenimenti storici che si sono succeduti nella regione, le opere letterarie degli scrittori caraibici francofoni, nel loro insieme, hanno oscillato, e continuano …

The definition "Franco-Caribbean Literature" used by convention from the critique to indicate all the literary production in French of the central region of the American continent is very improper. The Caribbean region includes in fact the islands of Martinique Guadeloupe Haïti and the Guiana. Despite the diversity of ideological movements and historical events that took place in these countries the literary works of the Caribbean writers have fluctuated and continue to oscillate between two tendencies: that of rooting in tradition and that of escape from it. The writers show themselves open to comparison and dialogue with other literary and cultural traditions in order to create a narrative form that corresponds to the many inheritances of those composite populations. Here the cultural syncretism that has been created allows to recognize a common identity in the name of all that the West wanted to extinguish. The common denominator seems to be inverted in the contradictory result of courageous but dangerous encounters of curiosities that can lead to conflicts to exclusions.

The volume Tommaso Maria Napoli Utriusque Architecturae Brief Compendium 1688 Rome treaty on civil and military factories and preservation of the architecture of the Dominican friar Tommaso Maria Napoli wants to help increase our understanding of the principles that should underpin the realization of civil and military baroque and late baroque period as expressed in the short treatise written by the monk architect born in Palermo Tommaso Maria Napoli (1659-1725) and published in Rome at the end of the seventeenth century. This translation from the Latin of the treaty drawn up by experts (Fabio Zarbo e Pietro Zarbo) included is an interesting research drafted jointly with Giuseppe Tantillo status of some of the architecture without realizing or attributed to the architect Tommaso Maria Napoli. In fact some cards are attached to the volume on the substance and state of preservation of the cathedral of the Assumption of Mary in Dubrovnik (Croatia) of the villas Valguarnera and Palagonia in Bagheria (near Palermo Italy) of the monument to the Immaculate and one of the towers of the church of San Domenico in Palermo (Italy). The volume is enriched by the presentation and afterword by Francesco Tomaselli that among other things starting from the definition of Restoration expressed by Tommaso Maria Napoli in his book presents a stimulating reflection on the meaning of Restoration. Potential Application of Voltammetry of Microparticles for Dating Porcine Blood-based Binding Media used in Taiwanese Architectural Polychromies

A method for dating Hemoglobine-containing archaeological samples using the voltammetry of microparticles is described. This is based on the record of the voltammetric response of such materials attached to paraffin-impregnated graphite electrodes in contact with aqueous acetate buffer. Signals attributable to the Fe(III)/Fe(II) iron couple and their catalytic enhancement in the presence of H(2)O(2) can be correlated, via first-order reaction kinetics, with the time of aging of the samples. The method has been applied to the study and dating of the polychromed architectural decoration of different parts of the architectural complex of the Longshan Temple in Lukang (18(th)  century, Taiwan).

Public acceptance of semi-automated truck platoon driving. A comparison between Germany and California

Abstract Platooning technology aims at achieving fuel savings by reducing the distance between two or more electronically coupled vehicles. This technology has recently been tested on public highways with heavy trucks in Germany and California. The objective of this study is to assess the level of acceptance among other road users as well as influencing factors of acceptance. An online questionnaire was administered in Germany and California with a total of N = 536 participants. This paper is an analysis of the stylistic function of phraseology in three contemporary novels, originally written in English —Enduring Love, by Ian McEwan; The Road, by Cormac McCarthy; and Midnight’s Children, by Salman Rushdie—, and their corresponding translations into Catalan —Amor perdurable, La carretera and Els fills de la mitjanit.
