Effect of a physical pre-treatment and drying on carotenoids of goji berries ( Lycium barbarum L.)
2018
In order to evaluate the influence of an abrasive pre-treatment and drying at 50 °C, 60 °C, 70 °C of goji fruits (Lycium barbarum L.), changes in colour and carotenoids were studied. An extraction method was modified and adapted to assay the main carotenoid esters and saponified carotenoids of goji berries, before and after treatments. Goji berries were confirmed as a high source of zeaxanthin, with zeaxanthin-dipalmitate at about 2 g/kg dry weight. The reliability of the analytical method was confirmed by the high quantitative recoveries, about 100%, a higher repeatability than reference methods and a good reproducibility (lower than 5%). After drying, significant but small carotenoid loss…
User and group networks on YouTube: A comparative analysis
2015
International audience; YouTube is the largest video-sharing social network where users (aka channels) can create links to any other users. Moreover, initially, users were allowed to create and join special groups of interest. Therefore, two types of online social networks can be defined. First, a user network where the nodes represent the users and the edges represent the social ties (friendship) between users. Second, a group network where the nodes represent the groups and the edges represent the social ties between groups, due to shared users. As the group network can be apprehended as the ground-truth overlapping community graph (where the nodes are the discovered communities and the l…
An alternative space-time meshless method for solving transient heat transfer problems with high discontinuous moving sources
2016
International audience; The aim of this work is the development of a space-time diffuse approximation meshless method (DAM) to solve heat equations containing discontinuous sources. This work is devoted to transient heat transfer problems with static and moving heat sources applied on a metallic plate and whose power presents temporal discontinuities. The space-time DAM using classical weight function is convenient for continuous transient heat transfer. Nevertheless, for problems including discontinuities, some spurious oscillations for the temperature field occur. A new weight function, respecting the principle of causality, is used to eradicate the physically unexpected oscillations.
A stochastic approach for extracting community-based backbones
2022
Large-scale dense networks are very parvasive in various fields such as communication, social analytics, architecture, bio-metrics, etc. Thus, the need to build a compact version of the networks allowing their analysis is a matter of great importance. One of the main solutions to reduce the size of the network while maintaining its characteristics is backbone extraction techniques. Two types of methods are distinguished in the literature: similar nodes are gathered and merged in coarse-graining techniques to compress the network, while filter-based methods discard edges and nodes according to some statistical properties. In this paper, we propose a filtering-based approach which is based on…
Use of translational genomics to identify genes important for legume seed development
2015
BAP Pôle GEAPSI; International audience; We have exploited the extensive synteny between the model legume Medicago truncatula and the cultivated garden pea, Pisumsativum, to identify loci controlling seed filling and seedcomposition in the crop species. QTLs for these traits are mapped by analyzing variation with in collections of recombinant inbred lines. Candidate genes with in the QTL intervals are identified by reference to the M.truncatula genomic sequence. This approach was used to uncover an endosperm subtilase that is associated with syntenic seed weight QTLs in Medicago and pea, and we discuss the possible role played by this enzyme in contributing to final seed weight.
High fat diet rapidly induces brain-plasticity-related transcriptomic signature in hypothalamus: role in energy homeostasis
2010
Poster board E12 (1 page) ; Session 203 - Food intake regulation 3 - Abstract n° 203.1 - Publication ref.: FENS Abstr., vol.5, 203.1, 2010; International audience; We have investigated the early events that are induced by a hypercaloric hyperlipidic diet in mice. The high fat diet rapidly induced metabolic imbalance, as soon as the first day, which is characterized. by a large increase in energy intake and several others metabolic alterations such as. hypercholesterolemia, and glucose intolerance. However, the diet-induced metabolic imbalance was. fully reversed after a week, suggesting that a physiological adaptive response has been then induced,. probably in order to counteract the delete…
Abnormal peripubertal development of the rat mammary gland following exposure in utero and during lactation to a mixture of genistein and the food co…
2011
The impact of early exposure to endocrine disruptor mixtures on mammary gland development is poorly known. Here, we identify the effects of a conception to weaning exposure of rats to the phytoestrogen genistein (G) and/or the antiandrogen vinclozolin (V) at 1 mg/kg-d, alone or in association. Using several approaches, we found that G- and GV-exposed rats displayed significantly greater epithelial branching and proliferation, wider terminal end buds than controls at PND35, as well as ductal hyperplasia and periductal fibrosis. Focal branching defects were present in V-exposed rats. An increased ER and AR expression was observed in G- and CV- as compared to V-exposed rats at PND35. Surprisin…
Alcoholic beverages, obesity, physical activity and other nutritional factors, and cancer risk: A review of the evidence
2016
International audience; Purpose: Prevention is a priority in the fight against cancers, especially nutritional prevention. To update the levels of evidence of relationships between 10 nutritional factors and cancer risk, the scientific literature published from 2006 to 2014 was reviewed by an expert group. Methods: Data from 133 meta-analyses, pooled analyses or intervention trials were examined. Nearly 150 relationships between nutritional factors and cancer at various sites were evaluated. Results: According to the evidence graded as convincing or probable, these factors were divided in two groups. Factors which increase the risk of cancer are alcoholic beverages, overweight and obesity, re…
The nutritional issue in older people with home-delivered meals: a scoping review protocol
2020
Setting up a home-delivered meal service often allows older people suffering from physical and/or cognitive disabilities to stay at home. However, older people who delegate their food activities (food purchasing, cooking…) have been reported to have a worse nutritional status than people who take care themselves of their food activities. In this context, we will conduct a scoping review of all studies related to the nutritional issue in home-delivered meal older recipients. This review was expected i. to shed light on the nutritional status of older people who benefit from home-delivery service to better understand their needs, and ii. to evaluate if home-delivered meal service can be a rel…
Importance of seeds in the process of common ragweed invasion
2012
International audience; Ambrosia artemisiifolia L. (common ragweed) was introduced into Europe at the end of the 1900s and is now present in several European countries. This annual invasive plant produces seeds that are highly polymorphic. Common ragweed can produce only a few thousand highly viable seeds. Many studies have focused on the seed stage. Greater seedling emergence for the seeds placed near the soil surface could explain the success of this species in open habitats, where the probability of deeper burial is low. Emergence percentage was found to decrease as burial depth increased from 2 to 8 cm, and no germination nor seedling emergence was observed for the seeds buried from 10-…
