Ischemia-reperfusion injury to coronary arteries: Comprehensive microscopic study after reperfused myocardial infarction.

Abstract Background Coronary arteries supply oxygen and nutrients to the heart. We evaluated the dynamics of microscopic damage throughout the ischemia-reperfusion process in the wall of coronary arteries following myocardial infarction (MI). Methods In a swine model of reperfused MI, animals were divided into one control and four MI groups: 90-min ischemia without reperfusion, or followed by one minute, one week or one month reperfusion. The hepatitis E virus (HEV), which is an increasing cause of acute viral hepatitis in Europe, is a zoonotic virus that is mainly transmitted through contaminated water, consumption of raw or undercooked meat from pigs or wild boar, blood transfusion, and organ transplantation. A prerequisite for the biochemical and physiological investigation of microorganisms is the isolation and management of pure cultures. Nevertheless, most of the environmental microorganisms are graded as “yet not cultivable” because the nutritional requirements are unknown or they could not be isolated due to the fact that fast-growing strains overgrow other microorganisms of a microbiota. In addition to plating techniques, isolation without cultivation and analysis of microbes could be performed by micromanipulation techniques or the application of optical tweezers followed by the utilization of PCR-based technologies.

Abstract Biogenic amines (BAs) are undesirable compounds in all foods and beverages because they may induce food-borne intoxications when consumed at high concentrations. The aim of this study was to identify the organism responsible for the synthesis of histamine in a Tempranillo red wine from Ribera de Duero D.O. (Denomination of origin), Spain. Improved detection and enumeration of yeasts in wine by Cells-qPCR

Abstract Quantitative PCR by directly sampling (Cells-qPCR) has been adapted to detect and quantify total yeasts, and B. bruxellensis, S. cerevisiae and Z. bailii species, in grape musts and wines. To increase assay sensitivity, the effects of a previous cell wall lysis, by both enzymatic and mechanical methods, were evaluated. Cell wall disruption by mechanical methods showed the best results to enhance assay sensitivity. Numerous standard curves were constructed by mechanically lysed cells in culture medium, and in white and red grape musts and wines. Background After dental bleaching procedures dentists commonly advise patients to reduce the consumption of beverages that may cause the teeth to stain, however, the effectiveness of teeth whitening may not be directly affected by diet. This study offers a contribution to understanding the complexity of the international wine trade analysing the specialisation patterns of 14 among the most important wine world actors in the period 2007–2016, in order to verify if the patterns of comparative advantages for the trade of this countries have experienced significant changes.
