Received: 15 January 2013 Abstract Accepted: 2 February 2013 The paper deals with the problem of Quality of Web Service (QoWS) in e-commerce Web servers, i.e. in retail Web stores. It concerns the admission control and scheduling algorithm for a Web server system, which aims at preventing the system from overload to provide high QoWS level and ultimately, to increase Web site’s conversion rate, i.e. to turn more visitors into customers. The sensitivity of the algorithm to changes in its basic parameter values was analyzed by using a simulation-based approach. Special attention was paid to evaluation of the parameter impact on conventional and business-related system performance metrics.

Quantum chemical meta-workflows in MoSGrid

Quantum chemical workflows can be built up within the science gateway Molecular Simulation Grid. Complex workflows required by the end users are dissected into smaller workflows that can be combined freely to larger meta-workflows. General quantum chemical workflows are described here as well as the real use case of a spectroscopic analysis resulting in an end-user desired meta-workflow. All workflow features are implemented via Web Services Parallel Grid Runtime and Developer Environment and submitted to UNICORE. The workflows are stored in the Molecular Simulation Grid repository and ported to the SHIWA repository. © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

In modern networks, HTTP clients communicate with web servers using request messages. By manipulating these messages attackers can collect confidential information from servers or even corrupt them. In this study, the approach based on anomaly detection is considered to find such attacks. For HTTP queries, feature matrices are obtained by applying an n-gram model, and, by learning on the basis of these matrices, growing hierarchical self-organizing maps are constructed. This global service level could be guaranteed within several autonomic computing systems managed by different autonomic domain managers. A global service level guarantee in NGN networks

In this paper, we propose an end-to-end service level negotiation protocol which enables a global service offer covering quality of service (QoS) and security while taking into account user's mobility in this offer. This protocol provides all the domains involved in the transport of a various offered services with a negotiation capability to achieve an agreement on a service level. In this paper we consider ontologies as knowledge structures that specify attributes of services, their properties and relations among them to enable finding semantic similarity between service descriptions and service requests. Ontologies reflect semantic relationship between concepts represented by attributes in service descriptions and service requests.
