Triterpene saponins from the roots ofAmpelozizyphus amazonicus
1992
A new triterpene saponin was isolated from the roots of Ampelozizyphus amazonicus together with the known 3-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-20-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyljujubogenin and the known triterpenes melaleucic acid, 3 beta,27 alpha-dihydroxylup-20(29)-en-28 beta-oic acid, betulinic acid, betulin, lupeol. The structure of this saponin was elucidated as 3-O-[beta-D-glucopyranosyl(1----2)alpha-L-arabinopyranosyl]- 20-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyljujubogenin by spectral analysis and chemical transformations.
Zizyphin modulates calcium signalling in human taste bud cells and fat taste perception in the mouse.
2017
Zizyphin, isolated from Zizyphus sps. leaf extracts, has been shown to modulate sugar taste perception, and the palatability of a sweet solution is increased by the addition of fatty acids. We, therefore, studied whether zizyphin also modulates fat taste perception. Zizyphin was purified from edible fruit of Zizyphus lotus L. Zizyphin induced increases in [Ca2+]i in human taste bud cells (hTBC). Zizyphin shared the endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ pool and also recruited, in part, Ca2+ from extracellular environment via the opening of store-operated Ca2+ (SOC) channels. Zizyphin exerted additive actions on linoleic acid-induced increases in [Ca2+]i in these cells, indicating that zizyphin does no…
Anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities of flavonoid and saponin fractions from Zizyphus lotus (L.) Lam.
2008
Abstract The effect of the flavonoid and saponin fractions from the leaves and root bark of Zizyphus lotus (200 mg/kg) was evaluated on carrageenan-induced paw edema in rats and on acetic acid-induced algesia in mice. In addition, two methanolic extracts from the plant (1 mg/ear) were tested on oxazolone-induced contact-delayed hypersensitivity (DTH) in mice. The effect of the different fractions was also evaluated in vitro on the nitrite production induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in RAW 264.7 macrophages. The results showed that both the flavonoid and saponin fractions significantly inhibited paw edema, algesia, and nitrite production without affecting cell viability. Furthermore, the …

A dammarane-type saponin from the roots of Ampelozizyphus amazonicus.
1993
A new C31 dammarane-type triterpenoid saponin has been isolated from the roots of Ampelozizyphus amazonicus. Its structure was elucidated to be ampelozigenin-15 alpha-O-acetyl- 3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1--2)-beta-D-glucopyranoside by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic methods, and by chemical transformations. Ampelozigenin is a novel triterpene, (20R,22R)-16 beta,22:16 alpha, 30-diepoxydammar-24(24')- methylene-3 beta, 15 alpha, 20-triol.
Influence des phosphates naturels et des mycorhizes à vésicules et à arbuscules sur la croissance et la nutrition minérale de Zizyphus mauritiana Lam…
1998
Rock phosphate and vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhiza effects on growth and mineral nutrition of Zizyphus mauritiana Lam. in an alkaline soil. The influence of vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizae (VAM) and rock phosphate (RP) was studied on jujube (Zizyphus mauritiana Lam.), a multipurpose fruit tree in Sahelian agroforestry systems. Jujubes were inoculated or not by Clomus manihotis Howeler, Sieverding & Schenck in an alkaline sandy soil to which were added five levels of RP (12 % of P) : 0.00, 0.31, 0.62, 1.25 et 2.50 g P/kg of soil, equivalent to 0, 775, 1 550, 3 125 et 6 250 kg P ha -1 . The jujubes seedlings grew poorly without mycorrhizal colonization and without RP applications (figures 1a…
