A novel series of triazin-chalcones (7,8)a-g and triazin-N-(3,5-dichlorophenyl)pyrazolines (9,10)a-g were synthesized and evaluated for their anticancer activity against nine different cancer strains. Triazine ketones 5 and 6 were synthesized from the cyanuric chloride 1 by using stepwise nucleophilic substitution of the chlorine atom. These ketones were subsequently subjected to a Claisen-Schmidt condensation reaction with aromatic aldehydes affording chalcones (7,8)a-g. Two mononuclear copper(II) complexes with the unsymmetrical tridentate ligand 2-[((imidazol-2-ylmethylidene)amino)ethyl]pyridine (HL), [Cu(HL)(H2O)](ClO4)2.2H2O (1) and [Cu(HL)Cl2] (2), have been prepared and characterized. The X-ray analysis of 2 revealed that the copper(II) ion assumes a pentacoordinated square pyramidal geometry with an N3Cl2 donor set. When 1 and 2 are treated with an equimolecular amount of potassium hydroxide, the deprotonation of the imidazole moiety promotes a self-assembled process, by coordination of the imidazolate nitrogen atom to a Cu(II) center of an adjacent unit, leading to the polynuclear complexes [[Cu(L)(H2O)](ClO4)]n (3) and [[Cu(L)Cl].2H2O]n (4). Abstract 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of diaryldiazomethanes Ar2C N2 across Cl3C–CH N–CO2Et 1 yields Δ3-1,2,4-triazolines 2. Thermolysis of 2 leads, via transient azomethine ylides 3, to diaryldichloroazabutadienes [Ar(Ar')C N–CH CCl2] 4. Treatment of 4a (Ar = Ar' = C6H5) and 4c (Ar = Ar' = p-ClC6H4) with NaSR in DMF yields 2-azabutadienes [Ar2C N–C(H) C(SR)2] 5. In contrast, nucleophilic attack of NaStBu on 4 affords azadienic dithioethers [Ar2C N–C(StBu) C(H)(StBu)] (7a Ar = C6H5; 7b Ar' = p-ClC6H4). Abstract In the present study, novel tetra Schiff bases were synthesized by condensation of 1,2,4,5-tetra (5-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-yl)benzene with different aromatic aldehydes. The chemical structures were confirmed by means of IR, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR, and elemental analysis. 9-Methyl-3-phenyldiazenyl-9H-carbazole: X-ray and DFT-calculated structures

The title compound, C19H15N3, was prepared by condensation of 3-nitrosocarbazole and aniline with subsequent methylation. The structure is built up of stacks of almost planar molecules. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations predict a completely planar conformation, different from that observed in the crystal lattice. HOMA (harmonic oscillator model of aromaticity) indices, calculated for three aromatic rings, demonstrate the small influence of the azo substituent on π electrons in the carbazole system.

Abstract Quinazoline (symmetrical) and quinoxaline (unsymmetrical), diazanaphthalenes involved in certain biological reactions, have been studied computational with the purpose of comparing their protonation and covalent hydration mechanisms. Geometry optimizations of neutral, mono and diprotonated cations and hydrated products have been carried out at three levels of theory. Geometry optimizations were performed at HF, DFT/B3LYP levels of theory using 6-311G* basis set and single point energies were calculated at the MP2 level of theory using the same basis set. Diffusion Control in Single-Site Zinc Reticular Amination Catalysts.

Zn-containing metal-organic frameworks have been used for the first time as heterogeneous catalysts in the amination of C-Cl bonds. The use of extended bis(pyrazolate) linkers can generate highly porous architectures, which favor the diffusion of amines to the confined spaces with respect to other imidazolate frameworks with narrower pore windows. The N4Zn nodes of the Zn-reticular framework show comparable activity to state-of-the-art homogeneous Zn amination catalysts, avoiding the use of basic conditions, precious metals, or other additives.
