The sketch on poetry of Zaolzie is an attempt to analyze the leading authors in the region in the years 1920-2016. The period was divided into sub-periods: the interwar years - the period of creative activity of such poets as K. Berger, O. Zawisza, L. Kobiela and the debutants: A. Fierla, P. Kubisz, J. Ondrusz, G. Przeczek, J.S. Polaczek. In the year 1936, there was established the Section of Literature and Art at Macierz Szkolna [Polish Schools Organization], which aimed to formally protect Polish artistic activity in Zaolzie. The article plays the role of justification of the multi-volume work devoted to Polish population living on the territory divided between two independent States nowadays - the Czech Republic and the Republic of Slovakia. It consists of two parts: in the first one, the author presents how the work itself came to be published - from the initial intentions to the State of their realization as it is today. Accordingly, he shows the successive stages of creating the work, explains the changes that followed in the conceptions over the span of several decades, as well as discusses difficulties in the realization of such complicated research enterprise. Problematyka artykułu skupia się na dylematach ciążących nad świadomością ludzi pogranicza. Kwestie te są rozważane na przykładzie refleksji, artystycznych postaw i życiowych decyzji wypracowanych przez Renatę Putzlacher-Buchtovą, polską pisarkę urodzoną i mieszkającą przez znaczną część swojego życia na Zaolziu. Trud istnienia na macierzystym pograniczu twórczyni sprowadza do dwojakiego nastawienia: albo funkcjonowania w świecie podzielonym na osobne domeny narodowe, albo otwartego na „innych” współmieszkańców istnienia we wspólnej krainie dla kształtowania jej dobra.
