Fascioliasis is a worldwide emerging snail-borne zoonotic trematodiasis with a great spreading capacity linked to animal and human movements, climate change, and anthropogenic modifications of freshwater environments. South America is the continent with more human endemic areas caused by Fasciola hepatica, mainly in high altitude areas of Andean regions. The Peruvian Cajamarca area presents the highest human prevalences reported, only lower than those in the Bolivian Altiplano. Assessment of seasonal changes in surface water quality is an important aspect for evaluating temporal variation of water due to natural or anthropogenic inputs of point and non-point sources. The objective of this paper was to investigate the influence of seasonal temperature fluctuations and precipitations on the levels of BTEX in natural waters. Principal component analysis (PCA) was used to evaluate the seasonal correlations of BTEX levels in water and to extract the parameters that are most important in assessing seasonal variations of water quality. In the title compound, [PdCl2(C15H11NO3)2]·CHCl3, the PdII atom adopts a slightly distorted square-planar coordination geometry composed of two Cl atoms in cis positions and two C atoms from isocyanophenyl ligands. The molecular conformation is stabilized by π–π stacking interactions [shortest centroid–centroid distance = 3.600 (1) Å] between substituted benzene rings of different ligands. The crystal packing is characterized by C—H...O and C—H...Cl interactions involving the chloroform solvent molecules.

The anion of the title compound, also called sygethin dihydrate, 2K(+)·C(18)H(20)O(6)S(2) (2-)·2H(2)O, has crystallographic inversion symmetry. The K(+) cation is surrounded by eight O atoms in a distorted cubic coordination geometry, forming extended K-O-S networks. There are also O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

While the more electropositive sodium is essential for the reaction, it is the less electropositive chromium or iron that actually performs deprotonation of benzene. This novel reactivity can be likened to a game of chess in which the queen (Na) holds the king in check, while the knight (Cr, Fe) scores checkm(etal)ate.
Land surface temperature retrieval from MSG1-SEVIRI data

Abstract We have developed a physical-based split-window Land Surface Temperature (LST) algorithm for retrieving the surface temperature from SEVIRI/MSG1 (Spinning Enhanced Visible and Infrared Imager/Meteosat Second Generation1) data in two thermal infrared bands (IR 10.8 and IR 12.0). The proposed algorithm takes into account the SEVIRI angular dependence. The numerical values of the split-window coefficients have been obtained from a statistical regression method, using synthetic data. The look-up tables for atmospheric transmission, path radiance, and downward thermal irradiance are calculated with the MODTRAN3 code. Die Darstellung phenolischer Methacrylsaureester verlauft glatt und mit Reinausbeuten bis zu 95%, wenn die in gekuhltem Benzol (5—10°C) in Gegenwart von Triathylamin gelosten phenolischen Verbindungen mit Methacryloylchlorid umgesetzt werden. So wurden neben drei einfachen Phenylmethacrylaten zehn vollstandig veresterte Oligo[(2-hydroxy-1,3-phenylen)methylen]e erhalten. Phenyl methacrylates can easily be prepared with yields of pure esters up to 95% by reaction of the phenolic compounds with methacryloyl chloride in cooled benzene (5—10°C) in the presence of triethylamine.
