Inhibition of pro-inflammatory enzymes by inuviscolide, a sesquiterpene lactone from Inula viscosa

2006

Abstract This work concerns the pharmacological activity of inuviscolide, a sesquiterpenoid from Inula viscosa. It exerts inhibitory effects on elastase, cyclooxygenase 1 and secretory phospholipase A2. Furthermore, it reduces the skin leukocyte infiltration in a murine model of dermatitis induced by repeated application of 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol 13-acetate.

Determination of water-soluble UV-filters in sunscreen sprays by liquid chromatography.

2002

Abstract Liquid chromatography was used for the determination of the three most used water-soluble UV filters, benzophenone-4 (BZ4), terephthalylidene dicamphor sulfonic acid (TDS), and phenylbenzimidazole sulphonic acid (PBS), in aqueous sunscreen sprays. A C 18 stationary phase and an isocratic mobile phase of EtOH–20 m M sodium acetate buffer of pH 4.6 (30:70, v/v) were used at a flow-rate of 0.5 ml min −1 . Mobile phase was also used as solvent for samples and standards. UV detection was at 313 nm. The analytical run took 5.5 min. The limits of detection were 0.5, 0.9 and 2 μg ml −1 for BZ4, TDS and PBS, respectively. The proposed method does not involve highly toxic solvents.

Determination of N-nitrosodiethanolamine in cosmetic products by reversed-phase dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction followed by liquid chromatog…

2016

A new analytical method for the determination of N-nitrosodiethanolamine (NDELA), a very harmful compound not allowed in cosmetic products, is presented. The method is based on a new approach of dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) useful for extraction of highly polar compounds, called reversed-phase DLLME (RP-DLLME), followed by liquid chromatography-ultraviolet/visible (LC-UV/Vis) determination. The variables involved in the RP-DLLME process were studied to provide the best enrichment factors. Under the optimized conditions, a mixture of 750µL of acetone (disperser solvent) and 125µL of water (extraction solvent) was rapidly injected into 5mL of toluene sample solution. The e…

Application of ACC method to synchronous luminiscence: determination of alpha-tocopherol and alpha-tocopheryl acetate in beverages.

2001

A new method based on the Q parameter, that permits the determination of the C(compound A)/C(compound B) ratio without preparing calibration graphs of the two compounds, is proposed. This method has been applied to signals obtained by synchronous luminiscence. Simultaneous determination of alpha-tocopherol and alpha-tocopheryl acetate in beverages using synchronous fluorescence has been carried out. To isolate the compounds from samples, liquid extraction with n-hexane as the organic phase was employed. The presence of interferences was tested using the apparent content curves (ACC) method and the C(alpha-tocopherol)/C(alpha-tocopheryl acetate) ratio was calculated using the Q parameter. Th…

Determination of amitraz and its transformation products in pears by ethyl acetate extraction and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.

2008

A method has been developed for identification and quantification of the acaricide amitraz and its transformation products, 2,4-dimethylaniline (DMA), 2,4-dimethylformamidine (DMF) and N-2,4-dimethylphenyl-N-methylformamidine (DMPF) in pears. The analytes were extracted using ethyl acetate and anhydrous sodium sulphate. Analysis was performed by liquid chromatography-electrospray tandem mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS/MS) in the positive ion mode using a triple quadrupole (QqQ) instrument. Two precursor-product ion transitions were monitored for each compound in the selected reaction monitoring (SRM) mode. The method was validated with pears taken from the orchard before the amitraz treatment …

Rapid and sensitive ultra-high-pressure liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry for the quantification of amitraz and ident…

2008

Liquid chromatography under high pressure in combination with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (QqTOF-MS and MS/MS) has been used to detect amitraz degradation products in pears, to characterize their structures, and to evaluate their occurrences in samples of different origins. Using the proposed approach, the parent pesticide and four degradation products were identified. To this end, pear samples were extracted with ethyl acetate and anhydrous sodium sulphate. Amitraz was found to be rapidly decomposed into four related compounds, of which N-(2,4-dimethylphenyl)formamidine (DMPF) was the most abundant and persistent. N,N'-bisdimethylphenylformamidine (BDMPF), 2,4-dimethylforma…

Matrix solid-phase dispersion extraction procedure for multiresidue pesticide analysis in oranges.

1996

A multiresidue extraction method based on matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) is optimized for the extraction and gas chromatographic screening of eighteen insecticides (aldrin, carbophenothion, captafol, chlorpyriphos, chlorfenvinphos, diazinon, dicofol, alpha-endosulfan, beta-endosulfan, ethion, fenitrothion, folpet, methidathion, malathion, methyl-azinphos, methyl-parathion, phosmet, and tetradifon) from oranges. After optimization of different parameters, such as type of solid phase used and the amount of solid phase or eluent, recoveries ranged from 67 to 102% with relative standard deviations ranging from 2 to 10%. The limits of detection, calculated as 3 times the baseline noise ran…

Determination of benzoylurea insecticides in food by pressurized liquid extraction and LC-MS

2010

A method based on pressurized liquid extraction and LC-MS/MS has been developed for determining nine benzoylureas (BUs) in fruit, vegetable, cereals, and animal products. Samples (5 g) were homogenized with diatomaceous earth and extracted in a 22 mL cell with 22 mL of ethyl acetate at 80 degrees C and 1500 psi. After solvent concentration and exchange to methanol, BUs were analyzed by LC-MS/MS using an IT mass analyzer, which achieved several transitions of precursor ions that increase selectivity providing identification. LOQs were between 0.002 and 0.01 mg/kg, which are equal or lower than maximum residue limits established by the Codex Alimentarius. Excellent linearity was achieved over…

Direct determination of ethanol and methanol in liquid samples by means of vapor phase-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy

1997

Abstract A FTIR procedure is proposed for the direct determination of methanol and ethanol in liquid samples, such as alcoholic beverages and eau-de-cologne, based on vapor generation from small injected volumes of untreated samples into a heated Pyrex glass reactor in which, at a temperature of 80°C, ethanol and methanol are volatilized and introduced into a long-path IR gas cell by means of a N2 carrier flow. The IR spectra obtained present two characteristic ethanol bands (1050 and 880 cm−1) and a single characteristic methanol band (1030 cm−1). The measurement of the area of the transient recording obtained for the wavenumber range between 1025–950 and 950–820 cm−1 allows us the determi…

Hybrid Chelator-Based PSMA Radiopharmaceuticals: Translational Approach

2021

(1) Background: Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) has been extensively studied in the last decade. It became a promising biological target in the diagnosis and therapy of PSMA-expressing cancer diseases. Although there are several radiolabeled PSMA inhibitors available, the search for new compounds with improved pharmacokinetic properties and simplified synthesis is still ongoing. In this study, we developed PSMA ligands with two different hybrid chelators and a modified linker. Both compounds have displayed a promising pharmacokinetic profile. (2) Methods: DATA5m.SA.KuE and AAZTA5.SA.KuE were synthesized. DATA5m.SA.KuE was labeled with gallium-68 and radiochemical yields of various…
