Isomerisierung von 2‐Alkoxycyclopropancarbonsäuren – Eine effektive Synthese von 4‐Oxocarbonsäuren

1983

Isomerisation of 2-Alkoxycyclopropanecarboxylic Acids – An Effective Synthesis of 4-Oxo Carboxylic Acids (Z/E)-2-2-Alkoxycyclopropanecarboxylic esters 2/3 were prepared from enol ethers 1 and ethyl diazoa…

Can herbivore-induced volatiles protect plants by increasing the herbivores’ susceptibility to natural pathogens?

2018

In response to insect herbivory, plants mobilize various defenses. Defense responses include the release of herbivore-induced plant volatiles (HIPVs) that can serve as signals to alert undamaged tissues and to attract natural enemies of the herbivores. Some HIPVs can have a direct negative impact on herbivore survival, but it is not well understood by what mechanisms. Here, we tested the hypothesis that exposure to HIPVs renders insects more susceptible to natural pathogens. Exposure of the caterpillars of the noctuid Spodoptera exigua to indole and linalool, but not exposure to (Z)-3-hexenyl acetate, increased the susceptibility to Spodoptera exigua multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (SeMNPV). …

Transcription of α2 Integrin Gene in Osteosarcoma Cells Is Enhanced by Tumor Promoters

1998

Integrin alpha2beta1 is a heterodimeric transmembrane receptor for collagens. In osteogenic cells the expression of alpha2beta1 integrin is induced by both Kirsten sarcoma virus and chemical transformation. The association of alpha2 integrin with transformed cell phenotype was studied further by testing the effects of two tumor promoters, 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol 13-acetate (TPA) and okadaic acid (OA), on human MG-63 osteosarcoma cells. TPA, an activator of protein kinase C, increased the cell surface expression of alpha2 integrin and the corresponding mRNA levels. Nuclear run-on assays indicated that TPA activated the transcription of alpha2 integrin gene. TPA also slightly increased the …

Interesterification of rapeseed oil catalysed by a low surface area tin (II) oxide heterogeneous catalyst

2018

Abstract The interesterification of rapeseed oil was performed in a batch reactor using for the first time low surface area massive tin(II) oxide as heterogeneous catalyst and methyl acetate as acyl acceptor. The effect of reaction temperature, methyl acetate to oil molar ratio and catalyst loading on the performances of the process were investigated. Yields in fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) and triacetin (TA) up to 90% and 70% respectively, were achieved after 4 h of reaction time at 483 K in the presence of 0.69 mol of SnO per mole of rapeseed oil using a methyl acetate to oil molar ratio of 40. Quite interestingly, the catalyst performances improved when water was added to the reaction…

Growth, interleukin-2 production, and responsiveness to IL-2 in T4- positive T Lymphocyte populations from malignant cutaneous T cell lymphoma (Sezar…

1984

Abstract Functional analysis and surface phenotyping using monoclonal antibodies have revealed that malignant T lymphocyte populations in the peripheral blood of patients with Sezary's syndrome resemble the T helper cell populations from normal individuals. In this article we have studied the effects of the immunosuppressive drug cyclosporine A (CsA) on growth, interleukin-2 (IL-2) production, and the induction of IL-2 responsiveness of peripheral blood monocytes (PBMs) from five patients with Sezary's syndrome in vitro, using the lectin phytohemagglutinin (PHA) and the phorbol ester phorbol myristate acetate (PMA) as stimuli. The following results were obtained: PHA-induced cell proliferat…

Isomerism of [64Cu-NOTA-Bn]-labeled radiotracers: separation of two complex isomers and determination of their interconversion energy barrier using i…

2011

The model complex [(64)Cu((S)-p-NH(2)-Bn-NOTA)](-) ([(64)Cu]1) was used to study the isomerism of [(64)Cu-NOTA-Bn]-labeled radiotracers. Two complex isomers [(64)Cu]1a and [(64)Cu]1b, which were formed at a ratio of 1:9 during the complexation of [(64)Cu]Cu(2+) with (S)-p-NH(2)-Bn-NOTA, were separated using ion pair chromatography. To study the interconversion, the nonradioactive complex isomers Cu1a and Cu1b were separated and thermally treated at 90 °C in both ammonium acetate solution and deionized water. A faster interconversion rate was observed for both isomers with lower concentrations of ammonium ions. At the end of reaction, the thermodynamic Cu1a to Cu1b equilibrium ratio was 6:94…

Regulatory O 2 tensions for the synthesis of fermentation products in Escherichia coli and relation to aerobic respiration

1997

In an oxystat, the synthesis of the fermentation products formate, acetate, ethanol, lactate, and succinate of Escherichia coli was studied as a function of the O2 tension (pO2) in the medium. The pO2 values that gave rise to half-maximal synthesis of the products (pO0. 5) were 0.2-0.4 mbar for ethanol, acetate, and succinate, and 1 mbar for formate. The pO0.5 for the expression of the adhE gene encoding alcohol dehydrogenase was approximately 0.8 mbar. Thus, the pO2 for the onset of fermentation was distinctly lower than that for anaerobic respiration (pO0.5/= 5 mbar), which was determined earlier. An essential role for quinol oxidase bd in microaerobic growth was demonstrated. A mutant de…

Density, Speed of Sound, and Refractive Index of 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium Trifluoromethanesulfonate with Acetone, Methyl Acetate, and Ethyl Acetat…

2009

Densities, speeds of sound, and refractive indices of the binary mixtures of 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium trifluoromethanesulfonate ([emim][triflate]) with acetone, methyl acetate, and ethyl acetate were experimentally measured over the whole range of compositions at T = (278.15 to 328.15) K and a pressure of 0.1 MPa. From these experimental data, excess molar volumes, excess isentropic compressibilities, molar refractions, and deviations in refractive indices have been calculated and fitted to an extended version of the Redlich−Kister equation, which takes into account the dependence on composition and temperature simultaneously. The Prigogine−Flory−Patterson theory has been used to specula…

Topical Application of Glycolipids from Isochrysis galbana Prevents Epidermal Hyperplasia in Mice

2017

Chronic inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis have a significant impact on society. Currently, the major topical treatments have many side effects, making their continued use in patients difficult. Microalgae have emerged as a source of bio-active molecules such as glycolipids with potent anti-inflammatory properties. We aimed to investigate the effects of a glycolipid (MGMG-A) and a glycolipid fraction (MGDG) obtained from the microalga Isochrysis galbana on a TPA-induced epidermal hyperplasia murine model. In a first set of experiments, we examined the preventive effects of MGMG-A and MGDG dissolved in acetone on TPA-induced hyperplasia model in mice. In a second step, we performed…

Avarol inhibits TNF-a generation and NF-kB activation in human cells and in animal models

2007

Avarol is a marine sesquiterpenoid hydroquinone with interesting pharmacological properties including anti-inflammatory and antipsoriatic effects. In the present study we evaluated the pharmacological effect of avarol on some inflammatory parameters related to the pathogenesis of psoriasis. Avarol inhibited tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) generation in stimulated human monocytes (IC(50) 1 microM) and TNF-alpha-induced activation of nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kappaB)-DNA binding in keratinocytes. In the mouse air pouch model, administration of avarol produced a dose-dependent reduction of TNF-alpha generation (ED(50) 9.2 nmol/pouch) as well as of interleukin (IL)-1beta, prostaglandin …
