Étude de la régulation transcriptionnelle des lymphocytes Th9

2017

CD4 helper T cells support a wide range of functions due to their ability to differentiate into different effector subsets depending on the antigen encountered and the cytokine environment in which they are. Current knowledge on the differentiation of helper T cells highlights the existence of complex transcriptional networks specific to each T helper subset. In 2008, IL-9 secreting CD4 T cells (Th9) are identified as a new helper T cell subtype. Differentiated in the presence of IL-4 and TGF-β, Th9 cells secrete IL-9 and IL-21, and contribute to the development of autoimmune and allergic diseases. Th9 lymphocytes also exhibit strong anti-tumor properties. The transcriptional network of the …

Enjeux fonciers et développement "durable" au Mali

2012

Making the land issue a total economic phenomenon and capital the driving force of development equates to giving free rein to the commodification of the land. Is it really necessary for Mali to sell off its agricultural land and its land resources to access development? For what development? Does development demand that family-run small farming operations and age-old, traditional land management methods be sacrificed? Ever since the country attained national sovereignty in 1960, Mali ‒ a poor country in sub-Saharan Africa ‒ has been seeking in vain to achieve rapid economic, social and industrial development by all the means available, with the exception of the deployment of an endogenous d…

Génétique des textes et système chaotique

2016

Textual genetics and chaotic system Although we share Louis Hay's idea that it is impossible to homologate and systematize the operations which can be observed in manuscripts, it is however possible to interpret whatever creation process in terms of the passage from entropy to order. The possibility of an analogy between text and chaotic system had been advanced by Noëlle Batt according to whom each work actually satisfies the principles of the chaotic system. It is starting from such principles that we will try to show the analogy between chaotic system and textual genetics: 1. The fact that we are dealing with an evolving system (with variables and permanent features) endowed with a tempo…

Differential effect of hypophysectomy and growth hormone treatment on hepatic glucuronosyltransferases in male rats: Evidence for an action at a pret…

1997

International audience; The influence of growth hormone (GH) on 4-nitrophenol, bilirubin, testosterone, androsterone and estrone glucuronidation activities was studied in fully activated male rat hepatic microsomes. Sham-operated and hypophysectomized animals were injected with two different dosages of GH, mimicking either the male or female GH secretion pattern. Half the animals received thyroxine and cortisol in concentrations chosen to compensate for the lack of thyroid hormones and glucocorticoids in hypophysectomized rats. GH induced a decrease in several glucuronidation activities: bilirubin glucuronidation in both sham-operated and cortisol/ thyroxine-treated hypophysectomized rats i…

Les followers ont-ils vraiment de l'importance dans le modèle de Stackelberg?

2011

In this paper, we consider a T-stage linear model of Stackelberg oligopoly. First, we show geometrically and analytically that under the two conditions of linear market demand and identical constant marginal costs, the T-stage Stackelberg model reduces to a model where T oligopolies exploit residual demand sequentially. At any stage, leaders behave as if followers did not matter. Second, we study social welfare and convergence toward competitive equilibrium. Especially, we consider the velocity of convergence as the number of firms increases. The convergence is faster when reallocating firms from the most to the less populated cohort until equalizing the size of all cohorts.

HAPEX-Sahel

1997

The variation in evaporative fraction and actual evaporation is examined for three sample days in the HAPEX-Sahel Intensive Observation Period (IOP), including data from all the vegetation types and sites. The trends in evaporative fraction over the IOP are also presented for eight sites. The high rate of evaporation from bare soil in the days following rainfall produces a variability in evaporation which makes differences between sites difficult to interpret on a day-to-day basis, but over the whole IOP it is shown that the millet uses a smaller proportion of the available energy for evaporation than the tiger bush or fallow savannah. The combined effect of differences in the total energy …

Specific DNA probes to detect Escherichia coli strains producing cytotoxic necrotising factor type 1 or type 2

1994

Cytotoxic necrotising factors type 1 (CNF1) and type 2 (CNF2) are produced by many Escherichia coli strains isolated from man and animals with intestinal or extra-intestinal colibacillosis. In most laboratories, CNF-producing strains are detected by a cell cytotoxicity assay and confirmed with a neutralisation assay or a mouse footpad assay. In this study, we sought to determine whether DNA probes could detect clinical isolates of E. coli producing CNF2 or CNF1, or both, without the need for cell cultures or animal assays. Two internal fragments of the gene encoding CNF2 were used as DNA probes: a 875-bp XhoI-PstI DNA fragment and an adjacent 335-bp PstI-ClaI fragment. A positive response w…

Sérologie discordante du VIH/sida et vie des couples en République du Congo : profil sociodémographique, comportements, facteurs de survie et prise e…

2020

For more than two decades, the health of populations has been at the heart of developmental issues. Population health issues fall within the "health, population and development" paradigm. It is in this spirit that experts demonstrated at the 1994 Cairo Conference on Population and Development that HIV/AIDS affects both population growth and sustainable development. Likewise, HIV infection is a source of discrimination, social inequalities, and the weakening of couples and families to the point where some individuals are even ostracized because of their HIV-positive status. In these conditions, how do people of different serological status live their married lives and their procreation despi…

Asymptotic analysis of the form-factors of the quantum spin chains

2020

Since a long-time, the quantum integrable systems have remained an area where modern mathematical methods have given an access to interesting results in the study of physical systems. The exact computations, both numerical and asymptotic, of the correlation function is one of the most important subject of the theory of the quantum integrable models. In this context an approach based on the calculation of form factors has been proved to be a more effective one. In this thesis, we develop a new method based on the algebraic Bethe ansatz is proposed for the computation of the form-factors in thermodynamic limit. It is applied to and described in the context of isotropic XXX Heisenberg chain, w…
