Objectives To investigate the independent and combined associations of objectively measured moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) and sedentary time (ST) with reading and arithmetic skills. Background We studied the combined effects of cognitive performance and lower extremity function on self-reported walking modifications and walking difficulty and on self-reported walking difficulty incidence over a 2-year follow-up. Abstract BACKGROUND Increasing evidence shows obesity and poor metabolic health are associated with cognitive deficits, but the mechanistic connections have yet to be resolved. We studied rats selectively bred for low and high intrinsic aerobic capacity in order to test the association between low physical fitness, a genetic predisposition for obesity, and brain health. Hybrid vibration signal monitoring approach for rolling element bearings

New approach to identify different lifetime stages of rolling element bearings, to improve early bearing fault detection, is presented. We extract characteristic features from vibration signals generated by rolling element bearings. This data is first pre-labelled with an unsupervised clustering method. Then, supervised methods are used to improve the labelling. Moreover, we assess feature importance with each classifier. From the practical point of view, the classifiers are compared on how early emergence of a bearing fault is being suggested. The results show that all of the classifiers are usable for bearing fault detection and the importance of the features was consistent. peerReviewed

This study examined the extent to which child-centered versus teacher-directed teaching practices predicted the development of children's reading and math skills in the first year of elementary school. In addition, we investigated whether associations between teaching practices and children's academic skills development in Grade 1 differed among children who had low, average, or high initial academic skills at the beginning of school.
