We present the enlargement plan of an isolated cemetery in a small town of the west Sicily as it exemplifies some way to carry out the design for an “addition”. The enlargement faces a still readable and characteristic nineteenth-century building. Even introducing unavoidable innovative characteristics, the architecture we designed tries to resolve the difficult relationship between the new portion and the old cemetery, bell shaped, in steep slope above the town. In Defense of Cities : On Negative Presentation of Urban Areas in Environmental Preference Studies

This paper critiques a common research method, image-based studies, in assessing environmental preferences. The method is used, in particular, in the fields of environmental psychology, landscape studies, and health studies, here called empirical environmental preference studies or EEP studies. I argue that the established view in the EEP field that nature is inherently experienced as more aesthetically appealing and restorative than urban environments may be biased because of the image-based method. Il ripensamento della società contemporanea passa attraverso un nuovo umanesimo in cui “facendo arte” insieme gli individui si riconoscono come comunità sulla base di principi e valori condivisi. Mettendo a fuoco un concetto di arte inteso come esperienza (J. Dewey) e come cura, in linea con le teorie dell’Everyday Aesthetics e con la teoria dell’“artification” dell’etologa Ellen Dissanayake, il lavoro si propone di tracciare alcune linee interpretative che, a partire dalle criticità emerse con l’emergenza sanitaria del coronavirus, valorizzino l’arte come strategia per fare comunità.

Artikkelen undersoker hva slags forstaelse laererutdannere og laererstudenter har av estetiske arbeidsformer i undervisningen i laererutdanningene. Studien er en kvalitativ intervjuundersokelse blant laererutdannere og laererstudenter ved en norsk laererutdanningsinstitusjon. I lys av danningsteoretisk og didaktisk teori, finner studien at laererutdannere og laererstudenters forstaelse av estetiske arbeidsformer i undervisningen er kjennetegnet av «frihet» som fravaer av tvang og fasit i arbeid med laerestoffet, «fantasi» som bruk av forestillingsevnen slik at kunnskapen blir personlig, og «utfoldelse» som sosialisering inn i et fellesskap gjennom tilbakemeldinger pa egen atferd. En este trabajo se describe un fenómeno musical, la modulación tonal, que aparece con frecuencia en determinadas formas o estilos del cante flamenco, y se analiza su ejecución desde un punto de vistaetnomusical. Planteamos la tesis de que se trata, en efecto, de una propiedad de preferencia que persigue una determinada estética musical. This paper describes a musical phenomenon: tonal modulation, which frequently appears in certain flamenco types or styles, and analyzes their performance under an ethnomusic point of view. We propose the thesis that it is indeed a preference property that pursues a particular musical aesthetic.

Youth sport experience provides opportunities for physical, personal, and social development in youngsters. Sport is a social system in which socially constructed gender differences and stereotypes are incorporated, and specific sport activities are often perceived as gender characterized. The objective of this study was to examine the relationship between some salient physical and emotional self-perceptions and the type of sport practiced.
