Abstract Background The most common presenting symptom of bladder cancer (BCa) is hematuria. The present study was designed to define whether patients taking antiplatelet and/or anticoagulant drugs might experience hematuria at an earlier stage or grade of BCa. Patients and Methods The data from 1532 consecutive patients who presented to the emergency unit of our institute from 2004 to 2012 because of gross hematuria as a single symptom were evaluated. Background Hemorrhagic transformation (HT), a complication of ischemic stroke (IS), might influence patient's prognosis. Our aim is to evaluate, in a hospital-based series of patients not treated with thrombolysis, the relationship between HT and mortality. This study presents new methods of average price aggregation that build on the unified aggregation operator (UAO). Modes of Structure Formation in Doped Discotic Polymers and Low Molar Mass Model Systems

By doping low molar mass or polymeric liquid crystals containing flat disc-like units with electron acceptors one achieves a stabilization of columnar phases, the induction of a columnar phases in otherwise discotic nematic or even in amorphous systems. Theoretical models based on the assumption of strong electron donator-acceptor (EDA) complex formation are able to account for the structure formation on a molecular level and the thermodynamic properties of the mixtures and the model of diffusion limited aggregation (DLA) for the structure formation on a supermolecular structure.

Mesogens with Aggregation-Induced Emission Formed by Hydrogen Bonding

In this contribution, we report a supramolecular approach toward mesogens showing aggregation-induced emission (AIE). AIE-active aromatic thioethers, acting as hydrogen-bond donors, were combined with alkoxystilbazoles as hydrogen-bond acceptors. Upon self-assembly, hydrogen-bonded complexes with monotropic liquid crystalline behavior were obtained. In addition, it was found that the introduction of a chiral citronellyl side chain leads to drastic bathochromic shift of the emission, which was not observed for linear alkyl chains. The mesomorphic behavior, as well as the photophysical properties as a solid and in the mesophase of the liquid crystalline assemblies, were studied in detail.

Splitting of Surface-Immobilized Multicompartment Micelles into Clusters upon Charge Inversion

International audience; We investigate a morphological transition of surface-immobilized triblock terpolymer micelles: the splitting into well-defined clusters of satellite micelles upon pH changes. The multicompartment micelles are formed in aqueous solution of ABC triblock terpolymers consisting of a hydrophobic polybutadiene block, a weak polyanionic poly(methacrylic acid) block, and a weak polycationic poly(2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate) block. They are subsequently immobilized on silicon wafer surfaces by dip-coating. Abstract With the aim to obtain organic salts with potential applications in high performance molecular electronics, we combined properties of π-conjugated spacers, like 1,4-diethynylbenzene and 1,6-diethynylpyrene, with the ones of both imidazole and imidazolium units.
