1D ferrimagnetism in homometallic chains
1990
The magnetic properties of the cobalt zigzag chain Co(bpy)(NCS)2 (bpy=2,2′‐bipyridine) are discussed on the basis of an Ising‐chain model that takes into account alternating Landé factors. It is emphasized, for the first time, that a homometallic chain containing only one type of site can give rise to a 1D ferrimagneticlike behavior. Juan.J.Borras@uv.es , Eugenio.Coronado@uv.es
Conjugacy problem for braid groups and Garside groups
2003
We present a new algorithm to solve the conjugacy problem in Artin braid groups, which is faster than the one presented by Birman, Ko and Lee. This algorithm can be applied not only to braid groups, but to all Garside groups (which include finite type Artin groups and torus knot groups among others).
mplicit Identification of Contact Parameters in a Continuous Chain Model
2011
Accurate contact modeling is of great importance in the field of dynamic chain simulations. In this paper emphasis is on contact dynamics for a time-domain simulation model of large chains guided in a closed loop track. The chain model is based on theory for unconstrained rigid multibody dynamics where contact within the chain and with the track is defined through continuous point contacts using the contact indentation and rate as means. This paper presents an implicit method to determine contact parameters of the chain model through the use of none gradient optimization methods. The set of model parameters are estimated by minimizing the residual between simulated and measured results. The…
Quasinodal lines in rhombohedral magnetic materials
2021
A well-established result in condensed matter physics states that materials crystallizing in symmetry groups containing glide reflection symmetries possess nodal lines on the energy bands. These nodal lines are topologically protected and appear on the fixed planes of the reflection in reciprocal space. In the presence of inversion symmetry, the energy bands are degenerate and the nodal lines on the fixed plane may hybridize or may cross. In the former case, the crossing is avoided, thus producing lines on reciprocal space where the energy gap is small, and in the latter, the nodal lines will endure, thus producing Dirac or double nodal lines. In addition, if the material crystallizes in a …
Photoinduced HS state in the first spin-crossover chain containing a cyanocarbanion as bridging ligand
2009
A new polymeric approach, based on cyanocarbanion ligands, for the design of spin crossover (SCO) compounds led us to the compound [Fe(abpt)2(tcpd)] (1) (tcpd^2 = (C[C(CN)2|3)^2 , abpt = 4-amino-3,5-bis(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazole) which has been characterised as the first SCO molecular chain involving a cyanocarbanion as bridging ligand. Quantum-state transfer via resonant tunneling through local-field-induced barriers
2013
Efficient quantum-state transfer is achieved in a uniformly coupled spin-1/2 chain, with open boundaries, by application of local magnetic fields on the second and last-but-one spins, respectively. These effective barriers induce the appearance of two eigenstates, bilocalized at the edges of the chain, which allow a high-quality transfer also at relatively long distances. The same mechanism may be used to send an entire e-bit (e.g., an entangled qubit pair) from one to the other end of the chain. DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevA.87.042313
On the construction of lusternik-schnirelmann critical values with application to bifurcation problems
1987
An iterative method to construct Lusternik-Schnirelmann critical values is presented. Examples of its use to obtain numerical solutions to nonlinear eigenvalue problems and their bifurcation branches are given
Dissecting the packing forces in mixed perfluorocarbon/aromatic co-crystals
2021
We carried out a systematic evaluation of the packing forces in co-crystals featuring monoiodo- and diiodo-perfluoroalkanes and 1,2,4-oxadiazoles through single crystal X-ray diffraction and theoretical analysis. The molecules assemble via a combination of halogen bonding and specific dispersive interactions involving the perfluorinated units. We quantitatively elucidated the nature and strength of such interactions through solid-state calculations and Hirshfeld surface analysis. One of the co-crystals, formed by two monoiodoperfluorodecane molecules, the longest perfluorinated chain ever solved at the atomic level, allowed us to fully highlight the role of fluorous interactions.
Condensed phases in monolayers of a triple-chain lecithin on water
1994
Abstract A triple-chain phospholipid monolayer at the air-water interface is investigated by means of grazing incidence X-ray diffraction (GID). Analysis of the diffraction spot profiles parallel and perpendicular to the surface yields different ordered phases. On increasing the lateral pressure at different temperatures the hydrocarbon chains form tilted phases with a tilt toward the nearest neighbors and eventually a hexagonal lattice with vertical chain orientation.
Infinite games and chain conditions
2015
We apply the theory of infinite two-person games to two well-known problems in topology: Suslin's Problem and Arhangel'skii's problem on $G_\delta$ covers of compact spaces. More specifically, we prove results of which the following two are special cases: 1) every linearly ordered topological space satisfying the game-theoretic version of the countable chain condition is separable and 2) in every compact space satisfying the game-theoretic version of the weak Lindel\"of property, every cover by $G_\delta$ sets has a continuum-sized subcollection whose union is $G_\delta$-dense.
