The Multi-period Multi-trip Container Drayage Problem with Release and Due Dates
2021
Abstract The Container Drayage Problem (CDP) aims at routing a fleet of trucks, based at a common terminal, to serve customers while minimizing the total travel distance. Each trip starts from and ends at the terminal, and handles a subset of customers. Each customer requires either that a container is picked up or delivered. We introduce a more realistic variant, i.e., the Multi-trip Multi-period CDP with Release and Due Dates (MM-CDP-RDD), in which the planning horizon is composed of several periods (days). On each day, each truck may perform more than one trip respecting the Release and Due Dates (RDD) associated with customer services, corresponding to the first and the last day on whic…
Cytotoxic activity of secondary metabolites derived from Artemisia annua L. towards cancer cells in comparison to its designated active constituent a…
2010
Artemisia annua L. (sweet wormwood, qinhao) has traditionally been used in Chinese medicine. The isolation of artemisinin from Artemisia annua and its worldwide accepted application in malaria therapy is one of the showcase success stories of phytomedicine during the past decades. Artemisinin-type compounds are also active towards other protozoal or viral diseases as well as cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. Nowadays, Artemisia annua tea is used as a self-reliant treatment in developing countries. The unsupervised use of Artemisia annua tea has been criticized to foster the development of artemisinin resistance in malaria and cancer due to insufficient artemisinin amounts in the plant as c…
Naturally occurring short splice variant of CYLD positively regulates dendritic cell function
2009
Abstract Deubiquitination of NF-κB members by CYLD is crucial in controlling the magnitude and nature of cell activation. The role of the naturally occurring CYLD splice variant in dendritic cell (DC) function was analyzed using CYLDex7/8 mice, which lack the full-length CYLD (flCYLD) transcript and overexpress the short splice variant (sCYLD). Bone marrow–derived DCs from CYLDex7/8 mice display a hyperactive phenotype in vitro and in vivo and have a defect in establishing tolerance with the use of DEC-205–mediated antigen targeting to resting DCs. The combination of sCYLD overexpression and lack of flCYLD in CYLDex7/8 DCs leads to enhanced NF-κB activity accompanied by an increased nuclear…
Análisis del comportamiento de la demanda de turismo rural desde la experiencia de la comarca El Alto Palancia
2004
This study is intended to delve into the tastes and preferences of tourists visiting rural areas in Spain as an alternative to the traditional sun and beach holiday that dominates Spanish tourism. This paper is focused on the demand side of rural tourism; more specifically the extent to which tourists visiting a Spanish rural area. El Alto Palancia region, exhibit different behaviours depending on age, gender, incomes and educational background. The homogeneity of behaviour across several categories of tourists was tested in two sets of variables. First, «interest in certain resources associated with rural tourism», focused on natural and architectural resources that sustains the tourist's …
Chionaeosides A–D, Triterpene Saponins from Paronychia chionaea
2007
Four new triterpenoid saponins, chionaeosides A-D (1-4) were isolated from the roots of Paronychia chionaea. On the basis of their spectroscopic data, the structures of the new saponins were established as 3-O-alpha-L-arabinopyranosylgypsogenic acid 28-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1--3)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1--6)-beta-D-glucopyranoside (1), 3-O-alpha-L-arabinopyranosylgypsogenic acid 28-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1--6)-beta-D-glucopyranoside (2), 3-O-alpha-L-arabinopyranosylgypsogenic acid 28-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (3), and 3-O-alpha-L-arabinopyranosylgypsogenic acid (4).

Powerful Pharma and Its Marginalized Alternatives?
2018
Abstract. Only little is known about the underpinning psychological processes that determine medical choices. Across four studies, we establish that conspiracy mentality predicts a preference for alternative over biomedical therapies. Study 1a (N = 392) and 1b (N = 204) provide correlational support, Study 2 (N = 185) experimentally tested the role of power: People who endorsed a conspiracy mentality perceived a drug more positively if its approval was supported by a powerless (vs. powerful) agent. Study 3 (N = 239) again showed a moderating effect of power and conspiracy mentality on drug evaluation by comparing analytic versus holistic approaches. These findings point to the consequences…
Renewable sources and its applications awareness in educational institutions
2019
The topic of the presented research was to analyze the awareness on renewable energy sources among the students of three universities: the Ural Federal University (Russia), the University of Trento (Italy) and Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu (Romania). The survey included 6 basic multiple-choice questions about the main points of the renewable energy topic. Data were collected and analyzed in aid of percentage ratio of right answers among students on each possible answer. The approach adopted in the three universities for the education on topics related to renewable energy is different. This difference explains the different point of view of students on renewable energy.
Conserved alternative splicing in the 5'-untranslated region of the muscle-specific enolase gene. Primary structure of mRNAs, expression and influenc…
1995
We report here the isolation and characterization of cDNAs covering the 5'-end region of mouse and rat mRNAs that encode the beta or muscle-specific isoform of the glycolytic enzyme enolase. As previously determined for humans, two classes of beta-enolase transcripts with distinct sequences in their 5'-untranslated regions are present in both mouse and rat muscles. A mechanism of alternative splicing, conserved from mouse to man, generates the two forms of mRNA. Secondary-structure predictions indicated that, in all cases, a more stable secondary structure could exist in the 5' end of the message with the longer leader. In vitro transcripts containing defined human or mouse 5'-untranslated …
