An overview of the music therapy professional recognition in the EU

This article documents the development of the professional recognition of music therapy in the EU. First, a brief history of the origins of modern music therapy in Europe is presented, followed by more detailed analysis of the establishment of training courses and professional associations across Europe. Second, the stages in the professionalization process according to Ridder, Lerner and Suvini (2015) are discussed. Third, the importance of the European Music Therapy Confederation in promoting music therapy recognition in the EU is highlighted.

We describe a method for the in situ detection of specific splicing variants. The method is based on the use of antisense oligonucleotides designed to span splice junctions labelled with digoxigenin by terminal transferase tailing. We find that the spatial patterns of Ubx splicing variants Ia and IIa are similar in early embryos, but differ in late embryos. Variant IVa is only detected in the CNS (ps6) at stages 16 and 17. We also present evidence indicating that the first splicing event is cotranscriptional.

Bioactivity-guided isolation led to the identification of phenguignardic acid (2), a new phytotoxic secondary metabolite from submerged cultures of grape black rot fungus, Guignardia bidwellii. The compound is structurally related to guignardic acid (1), a dioxolanone moiety-containing metabolite isolated previously from Guignardia species. However, in contrast to guignardic acid, which is presumably synthesized from deamination products of valine and phenylalanine, the biochemical precursor for the biosynthesis of the new phytotoxin appears to be exclusively phenylalanine. In systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), hypocomplementaemia and complement deposition have been described both in man and in experimental models. A major involvement of the classical pathway of complement activation has been demonstrated in this disease, however relatively little is known about the involvement of the lectin pathway.
