Water soluble polyamides with iminoethylene and oxyethylene units in the main chain were obtained by condensation polymerization of diethylenetriamine and triethylenetetramine with suitable dimethylesters containing two or three oxyethylene units. The molecular weights were in the range of Mn = 5000–7000. By potentiometric and conductometric titration only 80–85% of the expected amount of basic groups was found which was probably caused by branching.
Synthesis of Peptides with α,β-Dehydroamino Acids, II. Synthesis oftert-Butyloxycarbonyldipeptides of Dehydroalanine and Dehydrophenylalanine
1985
Condensation of amides of Boc-amino acids3) with pyruvic acid leads to Boc-dipeptides 1 – 3 of dehydroalanine and 1-Boc-5-alkyl-2-methyl-4-oxo-2-imidazolidinecarboxylic acids 8 – 10. The amides, however, do not condense with phenylpyruvic acid. Boc-dipeptides of dehydroalanine (1 – 3) and dehydrophenylalanine (4 – 7) are synthesized using (Boc)2O and dehydrodipeptides with a free unmasked N-terminal amino group. Synthese von Peptiden mit α,β-Dehydroaminosauren, II1). – Synthese von tert-Butyloxycarbonyldipeptiden von Dehydroalanin und Dehydrophenylalanin2) Die Kondensation von Boc-Aminosaureamiden3) mit Brenztraubensaure fuhrt zu Boc-Dipeptiden 1 – 3 des Dehydroalanins und 1-Boc-5-alkyl-2-m…
H2-Antihistaminika, 7. Mitt. Synthese und H2-antihistaminische Wirkung N,N′-substituierter Thioharnstoffe, Cyanoguanidine und Dithiooxamide
1981
H2-Antihistaminics, VII: Synthesis and H2-Antihistaminic Activity of N,N′-Substituted Thioureas, Cyanoguanidines and Dithiooxamides N′-Substituted thioureas, cyanoguanidines and dithiooxamides with a 5-methyl-4-imidazolylmethylthioethyl substituent were prepared and tested for their H2-antihistaminic activity.

Studies on the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. Part IX. Action ofN,N-dimethylformamide dimethylacetal on some oximino-β-dicarbonyl compounds
1982
3-Oximino-2,4-pentanedione (1) and ethyl 2-oximino-3-oxobutanoate (6) reacted with N,N-dimethylformamide dimethylacetal (DFDA) to give 1,7-bisdimethylamino-3,5-dioxo-4-methoximinohepta-1,6-diene (4) and ethyl 5-dimethylamino-2-methoximino-3-oxo-4-pentenoate (8), respectively. When compounds 4 and 8 were treated with hydrazine hydrate, they gave O-methyldipyrazol-3(5)-ylketoxime (5) and ethyl 2-methoximino-3(5)-pyrazolylethanoate (9) together with its corresponding hydrazide 10, respectively. Upon action of DFDA on 3-oximino-2,4-pentanedione (1) at -20° an explosive crystalline product was obtained. On the other hand, the reaction of 3-acetoximino-2,4-pentanedione (11) with DFDA at -20° affo…

The synthesis and polymerization of 2-cyanoethyl N-vinylcarbamate (3b) and of the corresponding 2-trimethylsilylethyl isomer 3c are reported. The homopolymers 4b and 4c, derived from 3b and 3c, could be deblocked under mild conditions (ethanolamine for 4b and trifluoroacetic acid or tetraethylammonium fluoride for 4c) with essentially 100% unmasking of the amino function. Treatment of such unmasked amino groups in a copolymer derived from N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone and 3b with 4-{4-[bis(2-chloroethyl)amino]phenyl}butyryl chloride (13) (chlorambucil chloride) gave the corresponding amide, a potential antitumor agent. Kinetic studies showed that fluoride ion cleavage of poly(2-trimethylsilylethyl …
A p300 and SIRT1 Regulated Acetylation Switch of C/EBPP Controls Mitochondrial Function
2018
Cellular metabolism is a tightly controlled process in which the cell adapts fluxes through metabolic pathways in response to changes in nutrient supply. Among the transcription factors that regulate gene expression and thereby cause changes in cellular metabolism is the basic leucine-zipper (bZIP) transcription factor CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein alpha (C/EBPα). Protein lysine acetylation is a key post-translational modification (PTM) that integrates cellular metabolic cues with other physiological processes. Here we show that C/EBPα is acetylated by the lysine acetyl transferase (KAT) p300 and deacetylated by the lysine deacetylase (KDAC) Sirtuin1 (SIRT1). SIRT1 is activated in times of…
Solid-Phase Synthesis of Oligo(p-benzamide) Foldamers
2006
[reaction: see text] A coupling protocol has been developed which allows the synthesis of oligo(p-benzamide)s on solid support. Aromatic carboxylic acids are activated in situ with thionyl chloride and used to acylate secondary aromatic amines. N-p-Methoxy benzyl (PMB) as well as N-hexyl protected monomers were investigated. Heterosequences of both monomers were synthesized. Such nanoscale objects are important building blocks for supramolecular chemistry.
Some new examples of polymer modification
1985
This lecture summarizes some of our recent results about reactions with synthetic polymers. By cationic ring-opening polymerization of 4H, 7H-1,3-dioxepin a linear polyacetal containing one C-C-double bond per repeating unit is obtained. Copolymerization of this monomer with trioxane or dioxolane is possible. Various addition reactions can be carried out with these unsaturated polyacetals, polymeric epoxides being of special interest. Some other unsaturated cycloacetals are briefly mentioned. Amide moieties in linear polyamides can be modified by different reactions. Preparation and properties of poly-N-chloroamides and poly-N-trifluoroacetyl-amides are described. By reaction of metalated p…
