A chirality-induced alpha phase and a novel molecular magnetic metal in the BEDT-TTF/tris(croconate)ferrate(iii) hybrid molecular system

2006

The novel paramagnetic and chiral anion [Fe(C5O5)3]32 has been combined with the organic donor BEDT-TTF (= ET = bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene) to yield the first chirality- induced α phase and a paramagnetic metal.

Comparative enantioseparation of planar chiral ferrocenes on polysaccharide‐based chiral stationary phases

2022

Planar chiral ferrocenes are well-known compounds that have attracted interest for application in synthesis, catalysis, material science, and medicinal chemistry for several decades. In spite of the fact that asymmetric synthesis procedures for obtaining enantiomerically enriched ferrocenes are available, sometimes, the accessible enantiomeric excess of the chiral products is unsatisfactory. In such cases and for resolution of racemic planar chiral ferrocenes, enantioselective high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) on polysaccharide-based chiral stationary phases (CSPs) has been used in quite a few literature articles. However, although moderate/high enantioselectivities have been ob…

Unexpected photochemistry and charge-transfer complexes of [CB11H12]2 carborane

2008

Although the [CB11H12]¯carborane does not exhibit an absorption band inUV, its triplet excited state can be generated upon 308 nm laser excitation; also unexpectedly carborane acts as electron donor forming a charge transfer complex with methylviologen that upon illumination gives rise to viologen radical cation. Mechanistic studies on the photogeneration of o- and p-xylylenes from α,α′-dichloroxylenes

1998

Two-colour two-laser techniques have unambiguously proved that photolysis of the o-/p-(chloromethyl)benzyl radical leads to the sequential two-photon generation of o-/pxylylene from α,α'-dichloro-o-/p-xylene. Perez Prieto, Julia, Julia.Perez@uv.es

Coordination polymers undergoing spin crossover and reversible ligand exchange in the solid

2006

Here we report the synthesis and characterisation of a polymer made up of a system of parallel 2-D grids of Fe(II) ions linked by [Au(CN)2]– bridges and its transformation into a new system of three interpenetrated 3-D coordination open frameworks with the NbO topology. Reversibility of this crystal-to-crystal transformation is evidenced by X-ray crystallographic data and from their spin crossover properties. Real Cabezos, Jose Antonio, Jose.A.Real@uv.es

Dependence of enzyme reaction mechanism on protonation state of titratable residues and QM level description: lactate dehydrogenase

2005

We have studied the dependence of the chemical reaction mechanism of L-lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) on the protonation state of titratable residues and on the level of the quantum mechanical (QM) description by means of hybrid quantum-mechanical/molecular-mechanical (QM/MM) methods; this methodology has allowed clarification of the timing of the hydride transfer and proton transfer components that hitherto had not been possible to state definitively.
