"Per via di levare". Scavare e sottrarre in architettura

2014

2010

In Culotta’s teaching, and also in his profession, the ancient city has always represented the architectural text par excellence, one of the most important tools for the education of the architect, from which to continuously draw materials to transform in his own interpretation of the project. This should also be true for the historic center of Palermo, despite the many issues you have presented to us. Do the unresolved aspects of the ancient city prevent us from finding more or less spontaneous seeds of renewal, even in these conditions of great hardship, or does it still represent a source of wealth, difficult to read but legible, for the architectural designer? In the Design Laboratory w…

Comunicare l'esperienza del progetto

2010

Overall, the features dedicated to the publication of the creations of more or less young Sicilian designers are those that give the journal the most original and authentic character, promoting the activity of a generation of architects who over the years come to identify themselves in terms of similar design intentions and common objectives. The publication in «In Architettura» of many buildings in the Sicilian territory, even small houses, makes up the repertoire and contributes to the creation of a group, of a school. Together with the “Esercizi” column, the section called “Esperienza della progettazione” represents one of the main components of the journal which is entrusted with the mo…

Architettura cultuale nel Mediterraneo

2015

Block 21 and the Pensabilità of the Representation of Auschwitz

2012

Abstract Building on the assumption that the Memorial in Honor of Italians Fallen in Nazi Extermination Camps (situated in Auschwitz I, Block 21) expresses the meta-reflexive inclination that strengthened the twentieth century (the capacity of that century to think of itself as a subject), this article aims to highlight and illustrate the dual philosophical significance of the Memorial. From the perspective of the philosophy of history, this philosophical significance, which has a symbolic value, leads us to investigate an organic and historically embodied conception of deportation. From the perspective of the aesthetics of memory, this philosophical meaning offers a new framework for the …

¿Movilidad inclusiva o accesibilidad inclusiva?

2017
