172 REAL TIME EDGES DETECTION USING WAVELET TRANSFORM

2000

One of the way to extract edges uses the fast wavelet transform algorithm. This technique allows the detection of multiscale edges and is used to detect all the details, which are in a picture by modifying the scale. The real time application for edge detection involves the implementation of the algorithm on an integrated circuit like a FPGA and the development of an appropriated board. This article deals about the implementation of a wavelet transform algorithm onto a FPGA and development of an electronic board to detect multiscale edges.

Line element-less method (LEM) for beam torsion solution (truly no-mesh method)

2008

In this paper a new numerical method for finding approximate solutions of the torsion problem is proposed. The method takes full advantage of the theory of analytic complex function. A new potential function directly in terms of shear stresses is proposed and expanded in the double-ended Laurent series involving harmonic polynomials. A novel element-free weak form procedure, labelled Line Element-Less Method (LEM), has been developed imposing that the square of the net flux across the border is minimum with respect to coefficients expansion. Numerical implementation of the LEM results in systems of linear algebraic equations involving symmetric and positive-definite matrices without resorti…

A general procedure for the construction of Gorges polygons for multi-phase windings of electrical machines

2018

This paper presents a simple and effective procedure for the determination of the Gorges polygon, suitable for all possible winding configurations in electrical machines. This methodology takes into account the determination of a Winding Distribution Table (WDT), in which all the information about the distribution of the currents along the stator periphery is computed and from which the Görges polygon are easily derived. The proposed method can be applied to both symmetrical and asymmetrical multi-phase windings, including concentrated, fractional, reduced and dead-coil ones. The examples provided in this paper demonstrate the versatility of the proposed method.

A contribution to solve the problem of attributing harmonic distortion responsibility

2005

Owing to the proliferation of loads which draw nonsinusoidal currents, the current and voltage distortion in distribution systems is ever increasing. The correct identification of the source of distortion is important for attributing the responsibility of disturbances to utility and customers. In this paper, a new classification of the possible classes of responsibility is proposed, defining some conditions, based on the improvement of the method of decomposition of the current into conforming and nonconforming components, and of the method based on the evaluation of the sign of harmonic active powers, which allows their identification.

2014

The United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) is recognized as the core legal body of the United Nations system in the field of international trade law, and has a mandate from the UN General Assembly to harmonize, modernize and coordinate rules on international business. Since its inception over forty-five years ago, UNCITRAL has continued to pursue these aims in the key areas of international trade law such as international commercial arbitration and conciliation, international sales of goods and related transactions, security interests, international payments, international transport of goods, electronic commerce, procurement and infrastructure development. Droits européens et droit de la famille : contribution à l'étude de la dynamique du rapprochement

2011

In Europe, there's now a trend for the standardization of national family laws. This is closely linked to the increase of sources. The Council of Europe’s right, the European Union’s right, and the Comparative Law are increasingly interfering with the inner process of the production of family laws. The uniform standardization of family Laws first and foremost originates in the interaction of sources. The relationship between the different european legal systems, whether national or supranational, cannot only be seen as hierarchic or horizontal. They are indeed much more complicated and are based upon communication i.e. based on exchange and mutual influence. Communication between the different …

Harmonic behavior of trehalose-coated carbon-monoxy-myoglobin at high temperature.

1999

Abstract Embedding biostructures in saccharide glasses protects them against extreme dehydration and/or exposure to very high temperature. Among the saccharides, trehalose appears to be the most effective bioprotectant. In this paper we report on the low-frequency dynamics of carbon monoxy myoglobin in an extremely dry trehalose glass measured by neutron spectroscopy. Under these conditions, the mean square displacements and the density of state function are those of a harmonic solid, up to room temperature, in contrast to D 2 O-hydrated myoglobin, in which a dynamical transition to a nonharmonic regime has been observed at ∼180K (Doster et al., 1989. Nature. 337:754–756). The protective ef…

Behavior of gap solitons in anharmonic lattices

2017

International audience; Using the theory of bifurcation, we provide and find gap soliton dynamics in a nonlinear Klein-Gordon model with anharmonic, cubic, and quartic interactions immersed in a parametrized on-site substrate potential. The case of a deformable substrate potential allows theoretical adaptation of the model to various physical situations. Nonconvex interactions in lattice systems lead to a number of interesting phenomena that cannot be produced with linear coupling alone. By investigating the dynamical behavior and bifurcations of solutions of the planar dynamical systems, we derive a variety of exotic solutions corresponding to the phase trajectories under different paramet…

Both Short- and Long-Acting D-1/D-2 Dopamine Agonists Induce Less Dyskinesia than l-DOPA in the MPTP-Lesioned Common Marmoset (Callithrix jacchus)

2002

Abstract The current concept of dyskinesia is that pulsatile stimulation of D-1 or D-2 receptors by l -DOPA or short-acting dopamine agonists is more likely to induce dyskinesia compared to long-acting drugs producing more continuous receptor stimulation. We now investigate the ability of two mixed D-1/D-2 agonists, namely pergolide (long-acting) and apomorphine (short-acting), to induce dyskinesia in drug-naive MPTP-lesioned primates, compared to l -DOPA. Adult common marmosets ( Callithrix jacchus ) were lesioned with MPTP (2 mg/kg/day sc for 5 days) and subsequently treated with equieffective antiparkinsonian doses of l -DOPA, apomorphine, or pergolide for 28 days. l -DOPA, apomorphine, …

GDNF reverses priming for dyskinesia in MPTP-treated, L-DOPA-primed common marmosets

2001

Parkinson's disease (PD) is associated with a progressive loss of dopamine neurons in the substantia nigra and degeneration of dopaminergic terminals in the striatum. Although L-DOPA treatment provides the most effective symptomatic relief for PD it does not prevent the progression of the disease, and its long-term use is associated with the onset of dyskinesia. In rodent and primate studies, glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) may prevent 6-OHDA- or MPTP-induced nigral degeneration and so may be beneficial in the treatment of PD. In this study, we investigate the effects of GDNF on the expression of dyskinesia in L-DOPA-primed MPTP-treated common marmosets, exhibiting dyskin…
