L’étude de l’économie de la Gaule romaine par les archéologues a traditionnellement privilégié l’analyse des lieux de production agricole et artisanale, ainsi que la diffusion des produits manufacturés. La large diffusion de produits à l’échelle du bassin méditerranéen et jusque dans les provinces septentrionales de l’Empire, voire en dehors, suggère une économie ouverte aux échanges à longue distance. Les recherches montrent cependant que la diffusion n’atteint jamais la totalité de l’Empire, voire du Bassin méditerranéen, si ce n’est de manière marginale. Scheren werden häufig als multifunktionale Geräte aufgefasst, deren genauere Bestimmung schwer einzugrenzen ist. Jedoch geben deren Form und technische Eigenschaften über die vorgesehene Verwendung Aufschluss. Es ist also möglich, eine neue Gliederung dieser Objekte vorzunehmen, und zwar anhand der Funktion, die sie am besten zu erfüllen scheinen. Diese Einteilung der Scheren aus den Nekropolen der Treverer wird durch die jeweils begleitenden anderen Grabbeigaben verifiziert. Das Beispiel der Scheren aus den Gräbern der Treverer macht es zudem möglich, diese Stücke anhand der sonstigen Beigaben einerseits in die Technikgeschichte und andererseits in die Sozialgeschichte einzuordnen.

L’importance de l’artisanat autunois et son développement jusqu’au iiie siècle prennent racine à Bibracte qui a su exploiter les ressources naturelles de son environnement et parfaire un savoir-faire local ayant survécu à la conquête. Les recherches sur ces activités manufacturières menées conjointement à Bibracte et à Autun nous offrent ainsi une opportunité d’étudier ces problématiques sur la durée. This first synthesis concerns the animal bones, discovered since 1975 in Aventicum, the capital of Roman Switzerland. It is supported by the analysis of several residential districts, public sectors and suburbs, which represent five hundred chronological complexes and 74000 animal bones, dated from the Ist, to the IVth Century AD. During these centuries, Aventicum was incorporated to the Roman province of Gallia Belgica, then was raised to the status of a colonia and finally declined with the Empire.The analysis of bones was made to study various mutations which occurred during the occupation of the city. Whether politics is a separate sphere or an aspect of human action is a subject of academic controversy. I focus here on the political aspect of action, which is not exclusive of other aspects. There are no ‘naturally political’ issues nor is there anything completely devoid of a political aspect. I am now taking a step backwards to discuss the seemingly simple ‘political or not’ question, as compared to the ‘political in which sense’ question, which I have discussed elsewhere.
