A quantitative reverse Faber-Krahn inequality for the first Robin eigenvalue with negative boundary parameter

The aim of this paper is to prove a quantitative form of a reverse Faber-Krahn type inequality for the first Robin Laplacian eigenvalueλβwith negative boundary parameter among convex sets of prescribed perimeter. In that framework, the ball is the only maximizer forλβand the distance from the optimal set is considered in terms of Hausdorff distance. The key point of our stategy is to prove a quantitative reverse Faber-Krahn inequality for the first eigenvalue of a Steklov-type problem related to the original Robin problem.

Masculinity in flux? : Male managers navigating between work and family

The article sheds light on male managers’ experience as fathers in a post-Soviet context in Lithuania. This empirical study of 12 male managers’ experiences of work-family integration (WFI), their ways of coping with negative experiences, and the role of organizations in reducing conflict and enriching WFI, reveal the emergence of a new paternal identity: fathers who perceive their role as caregivers but for whom this is still subordinate to the dominant role of the breadwinner. Relying on their wife is a man’s dominant coping strategy. Organizations are perceived as family unfriendly. The managerial implications of the need for organizational support are discussed. peerReviewed

Intracellular route of canine parvovirus entry.

ABSTRACT The present study was designed to investigate the endocytic pathway involved in canine parvovirus (CPV) infection. Reduced temperature (18°C) or the microtubule-depolymerizing drug nocodazole was found to inhibit productive infection of canine A72 cells by CPV and caused CPV to be retained in cytoplasmic vesicles as indicated by immunofluorescence microscopy. Consistent with previously published results, these data indicate that CPV enters a host cell via an endocytic route and further suggest that microtubule-dependent delivery of CPV to late endosomes is required for productive infection.
