Ex-ante and ex-post measurement of equality of opportunity in health: a normative decomposition.

This paper proposes and discusses two different approaches to the definition of inequality in health: the ex-ante and the ex-post approach. It proposes strategies for measuring inequality of opportunity in health based on the path-independent Atkinson equality index. The proposed methodology is illustrated using data from the British Household Panel Survey; the results suggest that in the period 2000–2005, at least one-third of the observed health equalities in the UK were equalities of opportunity.

Regular physical activity (PA) has been found to be important for cardiovascular health and longevity. However, notable proportion of adult population does not meet the national PA recommendations. Active transport is one domain of physical activity, that could be a time-efficient way to increase PA and reach the national recommendations. Darbā tiek aplūkota bēgļu izraidīšanas vai atgriešanas aizlieguma teritoriālā piemērojamība, izvērtējot tā darbību ārpus valstu robežām atklātajā jūrā. Saistībā ar bēgļu ierašanās pa jūru izpausmi mūdienās, īpaši nozīmīga ir bēgļu izraidīšanas vai atgriešanas aizlieguma attiecināmība uz masveida pieplūduma situācijām. Vienlaikus būtiski ir arī aplūkot vajāšanas satura paplašināšanos mūsdienās, izvērtējot gan tiesu praksi, gan tā mijiedarbību ar cilvēktiesībām. The scarcity of research on French immersion teachers’ professional identity contrasts with the increasing popularity of French immersion programs in Canada and the concomitant need for French immersion teachers. This study explores the professional identity negotiation of four French immersion teachers in Alberta, Canada, with a focus on discontinuity.
