Composition and Antibacterial Activity of Essential Oils ofCladanthus arabicusCass. (Asteraceae)
2005
Abstract The chemical composition of the essential oils of the aerial parts (stems and leaves: sample A) and flowers (sample B) of Cladanthus arabicus Cass., were analysed by GC-MS. Monoterpenes hydrocarbons constituted the main chemical group in both essential oils, with Sabinene, β-pinene, α-pinene, myrcene, α-phellandrene and p-cymene as the main compounds. Sample A was tested for its antimicrobial activity against six Gram positive and negative bacteria. Results showed that the oil exhibited a significant antibacterial activity.
Towards a new treatment against polymicrobial infections: high antibacterial activity of lemon IntegroPectin against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Esche…
2020
AbstractLemon IntegroPectin obtained via hydrodynamic cavitation of waste lemon peel in water only shows high antibacterial activity against two Gram-negative bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli. The antibacterial effect against the ubiquitous pathogen P. aeruginosa was evaluated in terms of the minimal bactericidal (MBC) and minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC). Preliminary insight on the antibacterial mechanism of IntegroPectin originates from investigating its inhibitory activity against E. coli. Given the non-cytotoxic nature of citrus IntegroPectin and the ease of its reproducible production in large amounts, the route is open to the industrial development of a new …
Use of molecular topology in the selection of new cytostatic drugs
2000
Abstract Connectivity indices are the topological descriptors that are able to predict different chemical and biological properties of the organic compounds. Recently, our research group has demonstrated their usefulness in selecting new cytostatic compounds, all of them showing antibacterial activity. In this paper we realize that this ability is considerably increased by using our home-made pharmacological distribution diagrams (PDDs) together with the topological charge indices, so that the efficient selection of new candidates within heterogeneous sets of compounds is possible. This is a straightforward way for the design and/or selection of new active compounds on virtually any type of…
Antibacterial activity of different root canal sealers against Enterococcus faecalis
2017
Background The aim of the present study was to compare in vitro the antimicrobial activity of different root canal sealers against Enterococcus faecalis, prior and subsequent to setting. Material and methods Agar diffusion test (ADT) was used for evaluating the antibacterial activity of non-set sealer while the direct contact test (DCT) was used for after setting. Results ADT: Except for TotalFill BC Sealer all the others sealers tested showed antibacterial activity. BioRoot™RCS, MTA Fillapex and Sealapex Root Canal Sealer showed the lowest antibacterial activity, a significant increase in antibacterial effect for both Pulp Canal Sealer™ and AH plus sealers were found. Significantly higher …
High pressure processing of food-grade emulsion systems: Antimicrobial activity, and effect on the physicochemical properties
2019
Abstract The use of high pressure processing (HPP) for development of stable emulsion-based delivery systems has been recently increased. Under adequate conditions, application of high pressures modifies the functionality of protein and polysaccharide molecules and significantly promotes the emulsifying activities. Application of high pressures also modulates the emulsion microstructure without any destabilization and gelation of protein molecules. The lipid oxidation in HPP-treated emulsions can be accelerated, particularly with higher pressure levels, while the HPP utilization on emulsions in acidic conditions can highly inhibit the growth of spoilage and pathogenic microorganisms. In thi…
UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI DAN SKRINING FITOKIMIA EKSTRAK HEKSANA, ETIL ASETAT DAN METANOL TUMBUHAN SURUHAN (Peperomia pellucida L. Kunth)
2020
Antibacterial activity test and screening of phytochemical of extract hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol have been carried out. The extraction of the P.pellucida plants was carried out by the maceration method in stages based on the polarity of the solvent. Analysis of chemical compounds done with phytochemical screening test. Based on the identification of chemical compounds by phytochemical screening, hexane and ethyl acetate extract has been detected only in the presence of flavonoid compounds with moderate categories. Methanol extract contains high-grade alkaloids and moderate flavonoid and tannin compounds. Antibacterial test using disffusion methods suggest that ethyl acetate and me…

2019
AbstractAn unprecedented saponin is being reported herein together with five known compounds from the methanol extract of the roots of Albizia adianthifolia. The metabolites were obtained over repe...
Antibakterielle Wirkstoffe, 6. Mitt.1) 2,4-Unsymmetrisch dialkylierte Pyrimido[1,2-a]benzimidazole
1982
Antibacterial Drugs, VI: 2,4-Unsymmetrically Dialkylated Pyrimido[1,2-α]benzimidazoles Condensation of 2-aminobenzimidazole (1) with 2,4-hexanedione (2a) leads to the pair of isomers 3a/3b. Condensation with 6-methyl-2,4-heptanedione (2b) yields the isomers 3c…
Biological and antibacterial properties of a new silver fiber post : in vitro evaluation
2016
Background The incorporation of nano silver particles (AgNPs) to improve antibacterial properties of dental materials has become increasingly common. The aim of the present study was to compare the antibacterial activity and cytotoxicity effects of different fiber posts: glass fiber post, quartz fiber post, nano fiber post and silver fiber post. Material and methods The antibacterial activity against S. mutans, S. salivarius and S. sanguis was evaluated by using the agar disc diffusion test (ADT). Four wells of 3x2 mm (one for each material) were made with a punch by removing the agar and filled with the materials to be evaluated. The size of the inhibition zone was calculated. An extract w…
In vitro antibacterial activity of different pulp capping materials
2015
Background: Direct pulp capping involves the application of a dental material to seal communications between the exposed pulp and the oral cavity (mechanical and carious pulp exposures) in an attempt to act as a barrier, protect the dental pulp complex and preserve its vitality. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare, by the agar disc diffusion test, the antimicrobial activity of six different pulp-capping materials: Dycal (Dentsply), Calcicur (Voco), Calcimol LC (Voco), TheraCal LC (Bisco), MTA Angelus (Angelus), Biodentine (Septodont). Material and Methods: Streptococcus salivarius , Streptococcus sanguis and Streptococcus mutans strains were selected to evaluate the antimicrob…
