Motives for physical activity in older men and women : A twin study using accelerometer-measured physical activity

Motives for physical activity may vary considerably by age, sex, and the level of physical activity. We aimed to examine motives for physical activity in older men and women with different physical activity levels as well as whether genetic and/or environmental factors explain those motives. Finnish twins (mean age 72.9 years, 262 full twin pairs) self-reported their motives for physical activity. Time spent on moderate-to-vigorous physical activity was monitored using a hip-worn accelerometer. Objective: We explored motivation for physical activity (PA) and exercise in adolescents with asthma who entered and continued a 10-week play-based exercise intervention. Summary Aims To explore participants’ ability to participate in physical activity (PA), and barriers and facilitators to PA, at 12 months following restrictive bariatric surgery, and how these differed from participants’ pre-surgery perceptions. Effect of temperature–bias annealing on the hysteresis and subthreshold behavior of multilayer MoS2 transistors

The transfer characteristics (ID-VG) of multilayers MoS2 transistors with a SiO2/Si backgate and Ni source/drain contacts have been measured on as-prepared devices and after annealing at different temperatures (T-ann from 150 degrees C to 200 degrees C) under a positive bias ramp (V-G from 0 V to + 20 V). Larger T-ann resulted in a reduced hysteresis of the ID-VG curves (from similar to 11 V in the as-prepared sample to similar to 2.5 V after Tann at 200 degrees C). The field effect mobility (similar to 30 cm(2) V-1 s(-1)) remained almost unchanged after the annealing. Relative Humidity Dependent Resistance Switching of Bi2S3Nanowires

Electrical properties of Bi2S3nanowires grown using a single source precursor in anodic aluminum oxide templates are sensitive to the relative humidity in an inert gas environment. Dynamic sensing dependency is obtained and shows presence of spontaneous resistance switching effect between low and high relative humidity states. Employing the thermionic field emission theory, heights of Schottky barriers are estimated from the current-voltage characteristics and in relation to the humidity response. The change of Schottky barrier height is explained by local changes in physically adsorbed water molecules on the surface of the nanowire.
Monitoring of Cell Layer Integrity with a Current-Driven Organic Electrochemical Transistor

Abstract The integrity of CaCo-2 cell barriers is investigated by organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) in a current-driven configuration. Ion transport through cellular barriers via the paracellular pathway is modulated by tight junctions between adjacent cells. Rupturing its integrity by H2O2 is monitored by the change of the output voltage in the transfer characteristics. It is demonstrated that by operating the OECT in a current-driven configuration, the sensitive and temporal resolution for monitoring the cell barrier integrity is strongly enhanced as compared to the OECT transient response measurement.
