Does predictability matter? Effects of cue predictability on neurocognitive mechanisms underlying prospective memory

Prospective memory (PM) represents the ability to successfully realize intentions when the appropriate moment or cue occurs. In this study, we used event-related potentials (ERPs) to explore the impact of cue predictability on the cognitive and neural mechanisms supporting PM. Participants performed an ongoing task and, simultaneously, had to remember to execute a pre-specified action when they encountered the PM cues. The occurrence of the PM cues was predictable (being signalled by a warning cue) for some participants and was completely unpredictable for others. Objectives: To validate the Finnish version of the 42-item Scales of Psychological Well-Being among community-dwelling older people. The study also examined the test–retest reliability and usability, i.e. user experience, of the scales in this age group. Synthesis and Antitumor Evaluation of Menthone-Derived Pyrimidine-Urea Compounds as Potential PI3K/Akt/mTOR Signaling Pathway Inhibitor.

A series of novel menthone derivatives bearing pyrimidine and urea moieties was designed and synthesized to explore more potent natural product-derived antitumor agents. The structures of the target compounds were confirmed by FTIR, NMR, and HRMS. The in vitro antitumor activity was tested by standard methyl thiazolytetrazolium assay and showed that 4i, 4g, 4s, and 4m are the best compounds with IC50 values of 6.04 ± 0.62µM, 3.21 ± 0.67µM, 19.09 ± 0.49µM, and 18.68 ± 1.53µM, against Hela, MGC-803, MCF-7, and A549, respectively. This study examined the extent to which the quality of teacher-child interactions assessed in kindergarten (6-year-olds) is associated with children's reading and math development across the elementary school years. The sample consisted of 515 Finnish children (271 boys, 244 girls). Teacher-child interactions were observed in 49 kindergarten classrooms. The findings from the latent growth curve models showed that high-quality teacher–child interactions in kindergarten were positively associated with the initial levels of reading and math skills. The reactivity of neonatal rabbits to the mammary pheromone as a probe for viability

International audience; Newborn rabbits depend on a daily nursing interaction with the mother to gain milk and to survive. During this interaction, they localise and seize the nipples displaying a typical behaviour triggered by maternal odour cues. The mammary pheromone constitutes such a signal in domestic rabbits: it elicits sucking-related movements in more than 90% of the pups.
