We have identified a clinical association between self-reported non-celiac wheat sensitivity (NCWS) and Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF). Exercise and Conjugated Linoleic Acid Supplementation Induce Changes in the Composition of Liver Fatty Acids

Exercise and supplementation with conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) are used to reduce body weight and to improve health. Applied together, they may exert a synergistic effect. However, the effects of exercise and CLA supplementation on liver metabolism are poorly understood. The aim of this study was to examine the influence of exercise and CLA supplementation on fatty acids (FA) composition in mouse liver. We analyzed 44 of known FAs of this organ by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. This chapter summarises, and updates, lipid metabolism. Both pathways, exogenous metabolisms route via the chylomicrons, and the endogenous pathway of very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL) and low-density lipoproteins (LDL). The reverse cholesterol metabolism will also be mentioned. It also includes the current classification of hyperlipidaemias or hyperlipoproteinaemias, with a reminder of the phenotype classification, and further developments of the aetiological classification. Both parts have updated references, with which knowledge of this vast subject can be expanded.

Understanding the importance of the gut microbiota (GM) in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has raised the hope for therapeutic microbes. We have shown that high hepatic fat content associated with low abundance of Faecalibacterium prausnitzii in humans and, further, the administration of F. prausnitzii prevented NAFLD in mice.
